Description
1999 Lola B99/51
s/n 06
Silver and Black
This car was built by Lola for Team LeMans (LeMans Co. Ltd.), a very successful Japanese race team, to run in the Formula Nippon series. Team LeMans drivers were successful with drivers Satoshi Motoyama and Koji Yamanishi dominating the 1999 season. Motoyama was in contention for the drivers title until the final round, but ultimately finished 2nd. Team LeMans finished 2nd in the team point standings. The series was comprised of Reynard 99Ls and Lola B99/51s exclusively, both of which were powered by 3.0 liter Mugen V8s.
This car has had its engine recently rebuilt by Tomei, a well-respected Formula Nippon certified shop in Japan. Since the rebuild the engine has been run in one event and one test day. Upon arrival in the U.S., the car was completely gone through. It is currently track-ready and fine-tuned (setup sheets available). The ignition is a brand new EFI unit (complete with new spare) and was over $10,000 to design build and install. Further updates include a state of the art steering wheel, dash, Pectel engine management system and Stack data recorder.
Spares include:
1. Full set of fresh Brembo calipers
2. New EFI sparkbox
3. Brake pads
4. Input shaft
5. 7. Lola B99/51 manual
6. Pectel ECU Manual and download cable
7. Stack Data Manual and download cable
8. Hub tools
9. One Set of Wheels
10. One Set of Wet Tires
11. One Set of Slicks
The car is in great shape with excellent race cosmetics. The paint and graphics are in very good shape with minimal wear. There is 3M film on the leading edges of the front wing and nose. The wheels are excellent as well, as are the visible suspension and braking components. Removing the sidepods and other bodywork indicates that the chassis, suspension, engine, and transmission are all in fine shape as well. The interior is also in nice shape overall.
This is a great opportunity to acquire a Lola that has been recently gone through and updated as necessary. It is track-ready with no major needs, simply the usual setting up and small details to address prior to competing. The car is eligible for HSR, SCCA, and other series in the United States, New Zealand, Australia, Central, and South America. This car also represents a more cost-effective way for those with vintage Formula 1 cars to hone their skills without jeopardizing their car or incurring the higher operating costs of vintage cars.
