Cosmetic Presentation

Today this Mercedes-Benz SL 400 presents in excellent condition. The overall finish is very nice with just a few minor stone chips evident upon close examination. All glass surfaces, clear front and rear lenses, and exterior body trim are in excellent cosmetic condition. All openings function as new, with excellent closure, and proper panel gaps from all opening features. The folding mechanism retractable hardtop raises and lowers smoothly and nests tightly into the rear area over a hard-shell cover concealing the soft top. When in the up position, the panoramic sunroof offers great visibility and open-air feeling with the added security of a hardtop car. There are no chips or scratches in the windshield or roof glass. The 19” alloy wheels show curb rash on three of the wheels wearing Continental 255/35 ZR19 front and 285/30 R19 rear tires dated 2021. A 1” segment of tire rubber has been removed from the non-road contact sidewall edge on one tire.

Inside the car, the supple, beige leather interior exhibits excellent finishes throughout. All interior components have been beautifully maintained including smooth and supple leather trimmed seats, sculpted dash, and console materials, all of which form a beautifully trimmed cockpit. The beige leather seats are visually refined with detailed bolster contours that offer comfortable and supportive structure for both long drives and sport handling in a range of driving conditions. The leather trimmed steering wheel further conveys an elegant touch to the sporting interior. The balance of sophisticated technology and refined aesthetics in this luxury offering are beautifully combined. Harman/Kardon stereo, automatic climate control, multi-point seat adjustments, burled wood details, and superb material finishes convey sporting luxury at every corner. The trunk compartment continues exemplary presentation as does the retractable top mechanism, headliner, and hard-shell roadster cover which delivers a smooth finish when the top is concealed.

Under the hood, the 3.0-liter engine is clean and properly detailed reflective of the low miles and two-owner history in California. The engine displays factory components, correct trim pieces, and manufacturer's engine compartment stickers remain in place, just as delivered. The undercarriage of the car further supports the documented low miles, clean title and Carfax, showing no significant road marks on the factory aerodynamic chassis pans. The underside of the front air dam has typical driveway approach ramp scuffs, visible when viewed from underneath the car. Suspension and various exposed components revealed in the underside are also in excellent condition, offering a clean and fresh appearance with no visible evidence of structural damage.
