Desirable "Tri-Carb" Model. Exceedingly Solid Long-Time California Car.
1961 Austin Healey 3000 Mk. II BT7 “Tri-Carb”
s/n HBT7/L/17090
Metallic Green with Navy Interior
Introduced in March 1961, the 3000 Mark II came with several minor improvements over the Mk. I model, including the introduction of three SU HS4 carburetors and an improved camshaft design. Designated the BT7 Mark II in four seat form, the model would be Austin Healey’s flagship model for the year with just over 5,000 being produced- vastly outselling the two seat version, the BN7. The desirable three carburetor set up, however, would be reduced to just two SUs in 1962, creating a special allure for now rare “tri-carb” examples.
This particular BT7 “tri-carb” car is an exceedingly solid and strong running driver quality car which could be used as is, or restored over time by its future owner. It was purchased in the early 1990s from another California, Bay Area owner and has clearly benefited from its dry climate residency. The current owner has had the clutch replaced, brake work done, installed an oversized radiator, fitted a new exhaust, and rebuilt the overdrive unit. While previously blue, the car was repainted to metallic green.
Included with the car are records which outline regular work performed back to 1990, a jack with knock-off hammer, matching spare wire wheel, top and side windows, and a car cover.
As a solid, easy to enjoy, and rare “tri-carb” model, this 3000 Mk. II will appeal to those enthusiasts looking for a nice driver quality car to restore over time, or use as is.
Please note this example is titled as a 1962.
