Following the success of the RS, Porsche pulled out all the stops with the RSR. The engine bore was opened up as much as possible (first to 2.8 litres, and then to 3.0), and twin plug cylinder heads fitted, providing 300hp and then 315hp. An extra two inches was added onto the wheel arches and a front oil cooler added as well. The car won on its first outing, and went on to meet with considerable success, cleaning up in the both 1974 and 1975 seasons in the IMSA, European GT, and FIA GT Cup series. Indeed, even before the car was homologated, it was run in prototype class, where it won at Daytona in 1973 on its first outing.

This particular owner was sold new to a dealer in Colorado, and campaigned in the 1974, 1975, and 1976 seasons in IMSA and Trans Am series. As was the case with most IMSA RSR`s, this car was fitted with a large fuel cell made by ATL. Notable achievements include 4th at both the Daytona 24 hours, and the 12 hours of Sebring- Americas most important sports car races.

Cosmetically and mechanically, the car is presented in restored form. Much attention was paid to the finite details to insure that this example represents correct period trim. The history is unquestioned, and comes with its original log book, copies of race results, and a letter of authentication from Howard Adams at Porsche.
