When the face lifted 996 GT3 was introduced in the United States, enthusiasts rejoiced. For decades, American enthusiasts had been forced to watch as European magazines raved about `forbidden fruit` not officially available in the United States. Be it the Carrera RS 2.7, the 959, the 964 RS, or the early 996 GT3, Americans had long felt that Porsche was denying them some of the best-driving Porsches ever. Finally we were able to enjoy a more driver-oriented car than the Turbo, which while rapid, was a bit too refined for many enthusiasts with its all wheel drive and numerous creature comforts. The GT3 was available in rear wheel drive only, and had a gutsy naturally aspirated engine with an 8200 RPM redline.

This particular example is an enthusiast owned 1,324 mile, with one California owner from new, and was purchased new at Porsche of Oakland in late 2004. Options include thicker steering wheel ($675), electric sport seat left side ($1,220), electric sport seat right side ($1,220), Porsche crest in headrest($220), seat belts, guards red(-inc), metal door sill model insignia ($425), aluminum instrument dials ($855), custom tailoring (inc), xenon headlamps package ($1,090), seal grey metallic ($3,070), seal gray metallic top (N/C), black leather with full leather ($2,920), black mats- Porsche lettering ($115). Over $11,000 was spent in special options. The original window sticker is included with the car as well as laminated Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, complete tool and book set and extra owners manual.

Cosmetically, the car is like new and near perfect in every way-inside and out. There are no chips or scratches to speak of, and the wheels are in excellent condition. As a well optioned, enthusiast owned example, this car will not disappoint the collector or perfection minded buyer.

The interior is in similarly nice condition with no visible blemishes and still retains its new car smell. There are no rear seats, and the factory aluminum shifter and suede headliner add further to the special feel of the interior.

The engine compartment and trunk are totally stock and like new as well.
