Introduced for the 2011 model year, the Diavel represents a stark departure for Ducati. Combining the striking performance and design for which Ducati is famous with comfortable ergonomics and impressively low weight, the Diavel is an impressively effective dual-purpose bike without any credible competitors. Perhaps the closest competitor is the Harley Davidson V-Rod, but with a wet weight of under 500 pounds, the Diavel is almost 200 pounds lighter than the V-Rod. Certainly both bikes are aesthetically striking, although the Diavel is thoroughly modern, being essentially devoid of retro design elements.

The riding position is also very comfortable and the seat height quite low, which combined with the weight, makes the bike surprisingly easy to handle, another welcome departure from standard cruiser fare. The torque and performance are impressive and the chassis surprisingly easy to hustle as well. From an electronics standpoint, it is sophisticated, with ABS, traction control (adjustable) and three engine modes to alter the power and torque levels and delivery. The bike was available in several trim levels, the highest spec of which was the Carbon, which cost $2500 more at $19,995 and brought aesthetic enhancements through extensive carbon fiber trim and forged Marchesini wheels, which save an additional 5.5 pounds of weight.

This particular example is a Carbon model has had one owner. It was purchased new at Hattar Motorsports in San Rafael, California (now Marin Speed Shop) and has covered just 777 miles and has no stories, having never been down, nor has it been involved in any accidents. It is equipped with fly screen and storage bag and comes with original books (manual and Ducati Assistance booklet), keys, and service invoice.

Cosmetically, it is extremely clean, having been used in fair weather only. The fairings, frame, wheels, and mechanical components are all virtually unmarked, with two small chips on the left fairing only. Otherwise, the bike presents essentially as new, aside from very light soiling from road use in good weather.

This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a no-stories Diavel in near-new condition at significant savings over new. A capable touring bike that is also an impressively high-performance bike when pressing on, the Diavel is a remarkable dual-purpose machine that is extremely entertaining and technically sophisticated.
