1955 Alfa Romeo 1900 CSS s/n AR1900010251 Silver and Grey with Red Leather and Grey Carpets This 1900 CSS is equipped with the highly desirable 5 speed floor shift transmission, aluminum body, and very rare flat Nardi wood steering wheel. It is best described as a freshly repainted `driver`. As part of a large collection, it has been driven rarely, and the new owner should expect an intensive pre-use service to ensure that the car is mechanically ready for long distance touring. The body is exceptionally straight with excellent panel match throughout. The chrome is good inside and out, with very minor pitting on the bumpers and wire wheels. The repaint was done recently and is a very high quality job. There are no paint flaws of any significance anywhere on the car. The interior is in good condition. The dash is nicely painted, matching the exterior. The seat, door, and rear luggage area leather is all very good. All the gauges are the original units with minor fading in the lenses. The grey carpets are good, with minor discoloration, specifically to the area around the transmission tunnel. The headliner is excellent. The engine compartment is clean and is in keeping with `driver` standards. The car has been converted to Weber carburetors, and no air cleaners are fitted at this time. The original generator has been replaced with a more modern GMC alternator- a user friendly upgrade. The heater core has been bypassed. The engine itself is extremely clean and freshly repainted, suggesting that it may have recently been out and overhauled. Mechanically the car is good. The engine and transmission both sound and work properly. When the car arrived, we performed a comprehensive brake service and currently the brakes are fully operational and effective. The head, tail, and brake lights, and horn, are all working. Most of the indicator lights work. The suspension feels tight, although the sway bar mounts should be replaced. Air cleaners should be installed, and the heater issue rectified. Occasionally the clutch pilot bearing makes noise, although this has no effect on the usability of the car. There are no wiper blades or arms, and the switch does not activate the wiper motors. The underside is very solid with no evidence of rust, rust repair, or damage. The trunk is in good original condition.
