Description

1956 Jaguar XK 140 MC Drop Head Coupe s/n S 58177644, Engine No. G43728 S Ivory with Blue Leather Interior This matching numbers XK 140 MC has been with the same California owner for the last 30 years. While it has never been fully restored, it is best described as a well kept car with moderate cosmetic and significant mechanical attention paid to it over the last 30 years. The current owner has kept very careful records of all work completed. The previous owner rebuilt the bottom end of the engine, and the car has traveled approximately 10,000 since. Following is a list of work completed in chronological order, beginning in the late 1970s: Rebuilt radiator Rebuilt gas tank Refinish wood dash Refinish dash instruments Rebuilt door hinges New Dayton 60 spoke wire wheels New Steering wheel New wiring harness New carpet New leather interior and trunk New German Hartz cloth soft top New radio and speaker system New blinker indicator New Battery Rebuilt carburetor Rebuilt heater and fan Front brake rebuilt New brake master cylinder Front suspension rebuild with poly bushings New Water pump, fan, thermostat, fan belt New whitewall radial tires Currently the car is in running and driving condition. At times it is difficult to properly select second gear. The fuel gauge, clock, trunk light, and wipers are not operating, but the headlights, indicators, tail and brake lights are all operational. The entire car has been repainted in what appears to be its original color. Some touch up and blend marks are visible, specifically in the door jams. There is evidence of some damage to the frontal area behind the bumper and at the leading edge of the hood at one time. One small ding is visible in the driver`s door which has been brush touched. From several feel away, the ivory color masks all flaws and the car looks stunning. The car sits on very nice chrome and stainless wires with new Coker whitewall tires. The interior is the definite highlight, with excellent dash and door wood, excellent seat and door leather, and very good carpets. The Hartz cloth soft top is new with perfect headliner. All the stock gauges, switches, and knobs remain in place. With the car come the top boot, spare wheel and tire, records back to 1977, and a large box of extra parts including the original radio.
