1957 Porsche 356 A Coupe Chassis No. 100631, Engine No.602529 Silver-Blue Metallic with Black Leather One of the first and rarest of the 356 line, this `A` coupe is nicely finished in attractive silver-blue metallic and is ready to enjoy. Like all the Porsche 356s, the `A` is a simple, user-friendly classic with iconic lines. In contrast to the `B` and `C` reiterations, very few `A`s remain, increasing their collectability. The current owner bought this car in 1999 from Israel Love in Arlington, WA. Much mechanical and cosmetic work has been done in recent years and the car drives and shows extremely well. About 7 years ago a high quality repaint was done in this tasteful metallic silver-blue. There are no nicks or scratches, dings or dents of any significance anywhere on the car. The floors, doors, and battery box area are all free of rust or shoddy repair. The exterior chrome and stainless trim is in good condition throughout. The fit and gaps at the doors and bonnet are excellent, the front hatch good. The window glass, including the windshield, is excellent. The interior shows very well with new correct Porsche tweed carpets and headliner having been installed at the time of the repaint. The rubber floor mats, dash, front and rear seat, and door skin leather, and dash paint are all very nice. Some deterioration is present on the chrome supports on the front seats. The chrome gauges bezels are excellent. This example is fitted with the factory installed VDO dash clock. A later model cassette player has been tastefully added without modifying the dash. Both the front storage area and engine bay are presentable and original, but could benefit from a comprehensive detail. The engine number on this car corresponds with a 1960 75hp engine. Dave Merz recently performed a top end overhaul. There are no known issues with the car mechanically, and the car is ready to enjoy. The car sits on Dunlop 165R15 tires, and comes with the spare wheel and tire, jack, and a comprehensive set of records for the current ownership period.
