Two-Tone Red and Black with Two-Tone Black and White Interior
This is a nice driver level restored 444 from the last year production. Equipped with B16 engine and 4-speed transmission, this car just had a complete engine rebuild at a cost of approximately $9,000. The car’s current owner purchased it approximately three years ago in the Los Angeles area and has kept it as part of a large collection.
Straight, solid, and rust-free, the car makes a very good cosmetic impression, with glossy paint and generally excellent chrome. There is a dent in the left front fender and some pitting on the side window chrome and an area of deterioration to the finish on one hubcap. The bumper chrome is excellent and the car sits on costly and period-correct Michelin XVS tires. The interior was restored with new upholstery, headliner, and carpet. Most of the switchgear is in gauges and switches are in very good unrestored condition. A tachometer has been added beneath the dashboard along with a modern stereo with Alpine receiver. The trunk was retrimmed during the restoration as well. The engine has been attractively restored while the engine compartment has been selectively tidied and is in keeping with a nice driver level car of this value. The car runs and drives very well.
