The Giulietta is the car that took Alfa Romeo from being a relatively small production company to being an economically viable and successful firm. Prior to that, they had produced large and expensive cars, and never in very large numbers. With the Giulietta, however, Alfa Romeo produced significant numbers of these charming and capable cars. Its success was due in part to its unique placement in the market. It was neither a large hugely expensive car, nor was it very small utility car (such as the Fiat 500). Instead, the Giulietta was affordable enough so that many could buy it, yet permitted a more glamorous and useful approach to motoring that really struck a chord with buyers on both sides of the Atlantic.

According to Centro Documentzione Alfa Romeo this Sprint was manufactured on March 21st 1959 and was sold on April 17th 1959 to Hoffman Motor Car Co, New York.

Until its restoration in the late nineties by Scott Johnston of Bend, Oregon, this Sprint was a one owner Northern California car. At that time, a two litre motor with 10:1 pistons, higher performance cams, Weber carburetors, fabricated exhaust header and Marelli-Plex ignition was installed. The car was also fitted with Borrani wire wheels and drilled brake drums. It has a rare period Les Leston wood steering wheel. The interior is original with the exception of the carpets and the later Giulia Super gauges. The floors and rockers are all original and the car is absolutely rust free. This sprint has completed two New England 1000 tours and has recently undergone a recommissioning, which included a rebuild of the engine, transmission and brakes.
