Description

1964 Ferrari 250 GT/L `Lusso` s/n 5255 Engine # 5255, Numerio Interno 1940/62E Maroon with Tan Interior A two time platinum award winner at Cavallino in 2004 and 2005, this is absolutely the best Lusso that any Ferrari enthusiast could possibly hope for, inarguably the very best Lusso available, and perhaps the best in the world. This is one of just 350 Lussos constructed, perhaps Pinnin Farina`s best design. Sold new to Leopold Lippens of Belgium on January 27, 1964, this is the first Lusso built in 1964. Mr. Lippens sold the car to Mr. Van Der Eeken, also of Belgium, who sold it to John Bruner of Silver Springs, MD who imported it to the US in the early 1970s. In 1986 Bruner sold the car to Chuck Wray who sold it to Jay Jessup of Charlottesville, VA in the early 1990s. Jessup commissioned Greg Jones to do a complete restoration, and later sold it to Mark Minkin of Ocean Ridge, FL. The current owner bought this from Minkin in April of 2005. After the full Greg Jones restoration in 1998, this car subsequently won the `Best Sports Car` award at the 10th annual Concourse d` Elegance of Eastern U.S., the `Most Deserving Ferrari` award at Palm Beach in 2004, and repeated Platinum awards (95+ points) at the Cavallino Classic in 2004 and 2005, followed by the coveted Coppa Della Meccanica award requiring 100% score on operational components observed both static and during a road test. Cosmetically the car is basically perfect with extremely high quality paint work, chrome, and interior. Both the engine compartment and underside are fully detailed and impeccable. Since the restoration approximately 5,700 very careful, dry weather kms have been covered. Evidenced by the Coppa Della Meccanica award in 2005, the car is mechanically superb, with fantastic assembly work during the restoration and utmost attention to detail. Even the clock works. The engine, transmission, brakes and suspension are all operating as they would on a brand new Lusso. The current owner commissioned Patrick Ottis to do a minor service which was completed in September of 2005, just 400 kms ago. This car was delivered with the optional 3.78:1 rear end ratio, comes with the original tool roll with most of the original tools, original owners manual, Belgian license plate, all records relating to the restoration, a photo documentation of the restoration and engine rebuild, and all awards, trophies, and documentation. There are no outstanding issues mechanically or cosmetically. The car is ready to be driven or shown with fantastic results.
