Description

1965 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe Original Glen Green exterior with Original Saddle interior 396 CI / 425 HP VIN: 194375S121293 One of only 618 ``396`` coupes built this is a true \"survivor\" with original paint, interior, block, heads, and transmission. The car was fitted at the factory with a 3.70 Rear Axle ratio, M-20 Close Ratio 4 Speed, and sent to dealership as a \"radio delete\". Shellworth Motors installed the radio in 1965. This car was originally sold through Chevrolet Support and Shellworth Motors of San Jose, California to Bob Graham of Palo Alto. All of the cars purchased via Chevrolet Support were expected to be raced, but a few never reached the racetrack. Graham drove the car 41,622 miles until 1975 when he parked it with a slipping clutch. In October of 1995 Paige Jones, Randy Jones, and Tupper Robinson purchased the car as it was parked 20 years earlier. Between 1995 and 1997 a frame-on restoration was spearheaded by Dave and Pete at Herlinger`s Corvette Repair in Mountain View, California. This restoration included suspension, engine bay, fuel system, brake system and differential. The original 396 Turbo Jet was rebuilt by John and Bruno at Reggie Jacksons Engine Service, and dynoed at 435hp with 425 ft/lb of torque. The transmission was rebuilt by Randy Jones of HiPerSoar Racing. In 1997 this car was invited and raced at the Steamboat Springs Vintage Corvette Celebration where it completed the on-track events after receiving 2nd in class at the Concourse before the race. In 2002 the car was accepted and raced at the Monterey Historics at Laguna Seca. Currently the car shows 52,000 miles. With the car are several extras including the original hubcaps and an informative plaque for display at shows. This is a rare example of an unmolested \"survivor\" with extremely unique history, and is a car which is sure to appreciate nicely.
