Description

1965 Ferrari 275 GTS s/n 7935 Silver with Tan Leather The 275 GTS is one of the finest open Ferraris ever produced. Incorporating the new 3.3 liter engine and 5 speed transaxle, these cars have an infinitely more modern feel than the 250 examples which preceded them. This example is the 167th of just 200 275 GTSs built, and is completely restored and ready to be shown. It is finished in its original silver, now with tan interior. With the car comes with records back to 1999, polished Borrani spare wheel, jack and jack bag, 275 GTS road tests from Road and Track`s September of 1966, and Ferrari world November of 1993 issues, reprinted owners and shop manual, and what appears to be an original parts book. The most significant restoration was done in 1989. It is likely that the odometer was reset during the restoration, and currently the car shows 22,600kms. With the intentions of making the car ready for show, much additional work has been carried out in recent years to make the car near perfect. Just 7,535 kms ago the transaxle and half shafts, brake lines, plug wires and distributors were all overhauled. 4,000 kms back the starter and clutch master cylinder, carburetors, radiator, and fuel system were all rebuilt. While this work was performed additional detailing was done to bring the car up to award winning specs. The engine was removed and the engine bay repainted in proper semi-gloss black. The exhaust headers were recoated and mounted with new heat shielding and new hangers, and a NOS exhaust system was fitted. The valve covers were repainted with correct wrinkle finish. The throttle shafts are freshly nickel plated. All the hoses were replaced and correct clamps fitted. New coils, points, and again the distributors rebuilt. New fan motors were installed, along with a period correct battery. Finally, a fresh hood blanket was installed capping off an effort to make this car approach a 100 point example under the hood. Much cosmetic detailing was done to the exterior as well. New XWX tires have been fitted. New and correct back up lights were sourced and installed. The Borrani wire wheels have been painstakingly polished to better than-new-standards. The aluminum, stainless, and chrome trim throughout the car is hand polished and near perfect. With the exception of several rock chips on the forward facing area of the car, the paint is near-flawless- and has aged extremely well. The interior is like new with fitted carpet inlays over the excellent tan carpets. The seats, door panels, dash and console upholstery shows virtually no signs of wear or aging. The canvas soft top, like the rest of the car, is excellent. This car is up to the cosmetic standards of even the most stringent collectors. There are currently no known issues with the car mechanically. All systems are operating as they should, and the driving experience is representative of a new 275 GTS. Sports Car Market`s Price guide shows a high valve for these cars at $375,000 with a whopping 41% appreciation over a 12 month period. Few investments can offer this magnitude of return, and be so enjoyable to own.
