Description

1965 Ferrari 275 GTS
s/n 7767, Engine no. 7767
Rosso Corsa with Black Leather

Introduced alongside the 275 GTB at the Paris motor show in October 1964, the 275 GTS is a stylish and elegant open air car. Featuring disc brakes and independent suspension all round, and a new rear-mounted transaxle for improved weight distribution, the cars were technologically advanced and performed well. Together with their understated but beautiful Pininfarina styling, the cars were and remain desirable and usable open cars to actually drive and enjoy.

This particular example was sold new through Luigi Chinetti Motors, equipped for the US marketplace, and sitting on sparkling Borrani wire wheels. After a comparatively brief ownership period with Thomas W. Donahoe of Huston, Texas, s/n 7767 was purchased by the current owner in 1979, also a Texas resident, some 33 years ago. Very recently, the car received an extremely comprehensive detail by Ferrari experts Bob Smith Coachworks and the resulting automobile is truly breathtaking. So comprehensive was the detail work, it could nearly been seen as a non-invasive restoration, having incorporated the undercarriage, engine bay, interior including select upholstery, as well has exterior chrome and paint. Currently the odometer is showing just over 42,490 miles from new, with just 5,000 miles having been logged during current long-term ownership period.

This car is an ideal example to use, either casually or for tours and events. Cosmetically, it is exceptionally well detailed and makes a strong presentation, yet it is not so freshly restored as to discourage its new owner from using it.

The 275 GTS is one of the finest open Ferraris ever produced. Incorporating the new 3.3 liter engine and 5-speed transaxle, these cars have an infinitely more modern feel than the 250 examples which preceded them. s/n 7767 is mechanically sorted, and a true pleasure to drive. The factory hard top is an added bonus, further enhancing its year-round usability.

In addition to the factory hard top and cloth soft top, this wonderful 275 GTS is offered with the complete tool bag with tools, books, jack bag with jack, wheel chock, and knock off hammer, beautifully polished matching Borrani wire wheel spare shod with Michelin XWX tire, as well as invoices for regular service work going back to the early 1980s.
