1966 Ferrari 330 GTC
s/n 9091, Engine no. 9091
Blu Pozzi with Grey Leather
Widely regarded to be one of the best driving and most usable classic Ferraris, the 330GTC is highly sought after today. These cars are extremely nice to drive, even in today`s traffic, because of the wide torque band provided by the 4 litre V-12 and the tractability and balance that result from the combination of the transaxle and torque tube.
Because of its elegant understated lines and classic Ferrari layout the 330 GTC is finally emerging from years of under-appreciation. Just 600 330 GTC were constructed between 1966 and 1968. While many GTC owners have large collections of important Ferraris, their GTC will often be the choice car for driving events.
This visually stunning example has had much restorative work carried out in recent years. The car has been completely repainted in blu Pozzi, and the interior was reupholstered and the carpets replaced in 2000. Currently the car shows 141,875 kms. At 91,789 kms both the transaxle and engine were overhauled. More recently the brake system was rebuilt, and the A/C system charged. In 2000 Reid Vann rebuilt the heads, carburetors, much of the front suspension, and replaced the clutch. While the engine was out the engine bay was detailed. In 2005 the carburetors and steering box were adjusted, radiator re-cored ignition system, rear suspension, and cooling fans rebuilt by Fiorano Motors in Monterey, California. Within the last 3,000 kms Patrick Ottis has performed much work on this example to insure the car is well sorted and user friendly. The door locks and trunk release mechanism was adjusted, heater controls sorted, and steering shaft adjusted. The brake system was treated to a major service to include new pads and resurfacing of the rotors. All fluids and filters have recently been changed, and the car has just completed the Mille Autunno.
The repaint looks excellent, but while very fresh, there are moderate flaws visible in the reflection of the paint when viewed up close. Evidence of the color change is visible in a very small area of the door jams, but not anywhere on the exterior of the body. There are no paint flaws of any significance in the form of chips or scratches anywhere on the car. The chrome trim is very good throughout, and the car sits on nicely restored factory one-piece wheels with correct straight ear knock offs.
The interior is in very good to excellent condition. The dash, door, seats, and headliner leather is all excellent. The dash wood is excellent, and the car is still fitted with the correct factory wood steering wheel. Like the exterior of the car, the door jams are freshly repainted, and the sill plates are clean and straight. This car was fitted with A/C, which is in excellent working order and currently blows frigid cold.
The engine bay is nicely detailed and well above `driver` standards. A period correct battery has been sourced and installed, and the often missing radiator overflow bag is still in place. The air cleaner assembly has been repainted gloss black.
The underside of this example is solid and straight with no sign of damage, rust, or rust repairs. While not impeccably detailed, evidence of much recent mechanical work is visible from below the car.
The trunk has been restored several years ago.
There are no obvious issues with the car mechanically. With the exception of the clock, all the gauges appear to be accurate and operational. Compression readings were taken less than 3,000 kms ago and all cylinders were between 195-180 lbs. With the car comes a replica owners manual, an original parts book, incomplete tool roll, jack, jack bag, car cover, the old set of pistons and liners to confirm the engine rebuild, and records outlining all the work performed back to 1997.
