Description

CSX4036 was the 26th continuation car built. The ladder chassis was built and numbered at Shelby's Las Vegas facility prior to the Shelby/Kirkham connection. Over 1000 hours went into the construction of this aluminium bodied example. Handbuilt from the ground up using only proper parts including Girling brakes, Facet/Bendix fuel pumps, proper high pressure hoses with SAE 37 degree steel fittings. Pin drive Halibrand wheels. Original Cobra 427 seats were used along with proper English wool carpeting. A 1966 427 engine powers the car. Fitted with medium riser heads, sidewinder manifold, stroked to a displacement of 454 cubic inches it produces 500 hp. 12 quart Avaid road race pan as on original 427 S/C is used. The balanced drive line includes the proper large spline top loader, linakage and safety hoop, aluminium 3.73 rearend.. The fuel tank is as original 42 gallon baffled tank but fabricated in stainless steel off of original patterns. Each peice of this car has been massaged by hand including all aluminium inner panels which have been filed, de-burred and bruch finsihed and fitted to the car.
