High Quality Recreation of the Legendary P4 by Norwood.
1967 Norwood 330 P4 Recreation
s/n NOR003P4
Red with Red Interior
Representing the then new trend towards mid-placement of engines in sports racing cars, the 330 P4 is a development of a series that began with the 250 P and 250 LM in 1963. Featuring Lucas fuel injection and a sophisticated and aerodynamic new chassis/ bodywork combination, the 250`s were replaced by the 330 P series, of which the P4 was the ultimate development. Just three examples of the P4 were built, making them among the rarest Ferraris in existence. Naturally, they are owned by collectors and thus, high quality reconfigurations with Ferrari engines, and alloy bodies of the original style and construction type, have garnered the interest of enthusiasts seeking the experience of owning and driving one of the world’s most important automobiles without the out-of-reach price tag or uneasiness associated with enjoying such a valuable car.
This particular car was constructed by Norwood in Dallas, Texas in the early 1990`s. Their specification sheet indicates that the car is just 860kg and with about 400hp, 0-60 is available in just 4.0 seconds.
The car has been serviced extensively. In 2006, this example was fitted with Motec fuel injection, and many other smaller jobs performed, including the renewal of the clutch, distributor, and starter. More recently the engine and transaxle were removed, to allow for suspension and driveline detailing work, as well as the complete rebuild of top end, heads, and fuel injection system at considerable expense. The electrical system also saw attention, with many of the senders and sensors being replaced. The radiator was removed and serviced, brake system serviced, and the suspension aligned after reassembly. The half shafts were also removed and refreshed as necessary. The steering rack was closely inspected and refinished, and many suspension parts were replaced as part of the service work. The car has written and photographic service records back to 2003 indicating the fastidious care that the car has received.
Cosmetically, the car is in outstanding condition. Having just been repainted Rosso Corsa, it has an incredible presence and impact. The glazing is all lexan, and has survived well.
The interior is very Spartan and functional, with little upholstery. The dashboard and floors are black-painted metal, while the seats have red upholstery that is in good shape. The sills are also upholstered, which is appreciated during ingress and egress thanks to the wide sills. The steering wheel is the famous and iconic Momo prototipo, while there is a full complement of instruments that provide much information. The overall feeling is overwhelmingly functional and businesslike, rather than being a showplace.
The engine compartment reveals that the car has been fitted with fuel injection, like the original, and the engine is a 4-cam Ferrari 365 unit. Also evident is all the recent work performed. The transmission is a 5-speed G50 Porsche unit, which was fitted in 911’s and 911 Turbos in the late 1980’s and well into the 90’s, and subsequently earned a reputation as a robust and pleasurable gearbox to use.
This is a thrilling opportunity to acquire a very impressive car. Considerable work has just been completed, and the car has been tested by the current owner up to 150 mph on the open road to insure it is “on song” and ready for its next custodian. Widely regarded to be one of the most beautiful Ferraris ever created, the P4 is impossibly rare. This car is available at a small fraction of the cost of an original, and authentically captures the qualities of the P4 that made it so unforgettable, from the stunning bodywork, to the raucous V-12 soundtrack. Moreover, this example is even street registered (if only marginally), making it perhaps the ultimate Sunday driver.
