1969 MG C Convertible
s/n GCN1U/4677G, Engine no. 29GA/RU/H1632
Primerose with Black Leather

The MGC was a 2912 cc, straight-6 version of the MGB produced during only during 1969, with some sales running on into 1970. It was intended as a replacement for the Austin-Healey 3000. The first engine to be considered was an Australian-designed six-cylinder version of the BMC B-Series but the production versions used a 7 main bearing development of the Morris Engines designed C-Series that was also to be used for the new Austin 3-litre 4-door sedan. In the twin SU carburetor form used in the MGC the engine produced 145 horsepower at 5250 rpm. The body shell needed considerable revision around the engine bay and to the floor pan, but externally the only differences were a distinctive bonnet bulge to accommodate the relocated radiator and a teardrop for carburetor clearance. It had different brakes from the MGB, 15 inch wheels, a lower geared rack and pinion and special torsion bar suspension with telescopic dampers. Like the MGB, it was available as a coupé (GT) and roadster. An overdrive gearbox or three-speed automatic gearbox were available as options.

Today theses cars are considered to be very collectable. Tuning of the under-developed straight six is also common and simple modifications to head, exhaust and cam has been known to produce approximately 30% more power and torque than original.

This particular MG C Convertible is a stunning, exceptionally restored car. It was sold new in Las Vegas and driven just 51,000 miles by the original owner before having issues with the transmission. As a result, the car sat in static, dry storage until 1990. The new owner, also located in Las Vegas, had the car restored in its original primerose yellow. At the time of the restoration there was no evidence of rust or accidents, whatsoever. There is absolutely no filler on the car. The lines are beautiful as is the paint. It has a new dashboard, wooden steering wheel, panel kit, carpet kit, canvas top, 15 inch chrome wire wheels, tires, and brake booster. The engine is in excellent order. The overdrive transmission works as it should. The chrome is all original and in incredible condition. This rare model, only manufactured during 1969, has plenty of power and is a pleasure to drive. Every aspect of the car is exceptionally well restored and detailed and it would be a suitable example for concours showing.
