Description

1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV s/n AR153079 Red with Black Interior Italian car enthusiasts have always had a soft spot for the GTVs. There functional and charming body lines now serve as an icon for what is regarded as the golden era in Alfa`s history. This example has had two long-term California owners over the last 22 years. It is fitted with the highly desirable 1750cc engine which was only available in 1969 and 1971. Best described as an `excellent driver`, it is extremely clean and straight cosmetically and mechanically strong. As a 1971 model, this car is smog exempt in California. Currently the odometer shows 57,188 miles, which is believed to be accurate, but this cannot be confirmed. About 10 years ago, the car engine was rebuilt and the car repainted. The current owner has put approximately 1,000/year on the car. A mechanical inspection was performed in May of 2006 at Monza Motors in San Francisco. They found the car to be mechanically strong with good synchros, and excellent compression and leak down readings. The repaint was a high quality job. There are only very minimal nicks and chips, mostly to the frontal area. The body panels are all very straight, and the gaps good throughout. Both the driver`s and passenger`s door shut is crisp with no sag in the hinges. There is no evidence of damage or rust repair. The stainless bumpers and trim are clean and straight throughout. There are no rock chips and virtually no pitting to the windshield. The car sits on restored factory wheels. The interior is extremely well preserved with excellent dash and console wood, headliner, and carpets. The door and seat upholstery are also excellent with no tears or wear marks. All the gauges are pristine and original. There are no wires hanging from the bottom of the dash as is often the case with GTVs. The top of the dash has two cracks in it from sun shrinkage. A later Blaupunkt cassette player has been installed, but the original wood wheel remains. The engine compartment is in very good original condition. While complete, it is not detailed for show. The trunk is in phenomenal condition. The underside is extremely solid, with no evidence of repairs to the body or chassis. There is an extremely minor and inconsequential amount corrosion at the body seam of one rocker panel and around one drain hole, totaling less than one square inch. With the car come the original tool kit, spare tire, and jack.
