1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 Iniezione s/n AR3024601 White with Black Interior This is a fully `restored for show` one and a half owner California car. The previous owner bought it with in 1975, with just 475 miles and used it as a daily commuter car until 1999. In 1999, a complete restoration- both cosmetic and mechanical- was carried out to bring this car back to like new, showroom condition. Since the restoration was completed, just 3,800 miles have been logged, mostly to and from car shows and concourses here in Northern California. Fantasy Junction sold this car to the current owner in 2006 who never took delivery of the car. The engine and drive train were overhauled by Giorgio Vecchiola. This work included rebuilding and balancing the motor with high performance cams, higher compression pistons, sodium cooled exhaust valves, higher flow K&N air filters, and a new water pump. A NOS radiator was sourced and fitted. The transmission was rebuilt with all new synchros and bearings and a new clutch was also installed at this time. All necessary tie rod ends and suspension bushings were replaced, along with all four soft brake lines. All the body and paint work was done by Harry Jung at Foreign Body Shop, in Oakland, California. The repaint was a meticioulious, bare metal up job, done in the car`s original delivery color, and included the entire engine bay, door jambs, and trunk. Seven coats of color were applied, followed by three coats of clear, resulting in a stunning finish. There are no flaws of any significance anywhere in the body or paintwork. At the time of the repaint, all accessible gaskets were replaced. All the gaps are excellent with perfect door, trunk, and hood shuts, confirming that this car is an accident-free example. The chrome and stainless trim is generally good, although there is minor scaring on the left front bumper corner. The car retains all of the correct badging, much of which has been restored. The windshield has been replaced with a NOS unit, and all the remaining window glass is excellent. The headlight and taillight lenses have been replaced and are like new. The car sits on later Alfa Romeo restored 5-spoke alloy wheels with near new Pirelli P400 tires. The front and rear seats, door panels, and headliner have all been reupholstered in the original color and fashion, and are consequently like new. The dash and console wood are excellent. The top surface of the dash is covered by a fitted plastic cover. Correct carpet material was also sourced and installed. The sill plates are straight and the door jambs are detailed. The engine bay is totally restored and impeccably clean and ready for show. Other than the aftermarket K&N air filers, it is totally stock in appearance, and is complete with often missing window washer fluid bag. Like the engine bay, the trunk is totally restored. The underside is straight and clean, with no evidence of rust or damage repair. Mechanically, the car is well sorted, and has a tight, fresh, feel. All the lights, gauges, and switches are fully operational with the single exception of the heater blower. The more powerful than stock engine revs smoothly with no smoke. Because the transmission was just rebuilt, second gear synchro is perfect- a real rarity with Alfas of this era. With the car comes a photo documentation of the entire restoration, the jack and spare tire, copies of the original manuals, the original cams, windshield, and air cleaner housing, and lots of other extras which may prove useful to the new owner. Currently the car has vanity license plates, but the car comes with its original blue license plates also.
