Description

1988 Ferrari Testarossa
VIN: ZFFSG17A5J0077037
Rosso Corsa with Crema Leather

Upon its introduction in late 1984, the Testarossa stunned the world with its avant garde styling. Long low and wide, the Testarossa appeared even more so thanks to the extensive use of horizontal slatting, a feature that would be replicated both on other Ferraris and on many other lesser cars. Yet beneath these striking features was a surprisingly organic and handsome form that remains as arresting today as it was thirty years ago. Motivated by a new four valve version of Ferrari`s horizontally opposed twelve cylinder engine that made 390hp, the car was quick and made a fantastic racket, but was also very plush with leather almost everywhere, including on the rear shelf, headliner, and visors. The trunk is reasonably sized and the car very comfortable and easy to drive, making it an ideal way to cover long distances at high speeds in comfort. Many Testarossa owners use them regularly and there are many owners with cars having covered over 125,000 miles, and even an example in the San Francisco area with over 200,000 miles!

Produced in April of 1988, this particular example is a three owner car, which existed for much of its life on the factory issued MSO, having been owned by George Beaudry, who owned the Jaguar dealership in Spokane, Washington for many years. George was a true car enthusiast, and fanatical about the Testarossa. This example was purchased by Mr. Beaudry via the Ferrari dealer in Seattle in June of 1988 and was used as a showroom display at his Jaguar dealership for nearly 18 years, driven an average of only 700 miles per year.

Today the car has just 24,000 miles in total, and is in exceptional condition, in keeping with its enthusiastic ownership. The left front headlight cover had been touched up at one point to repair a stone chip, but it otherwise wears original paint throughout, and is extremely nice. Similarly, the interior is also in excellent condition, with minimal wear on the driver’s seat bolster (having been protected by sheepskin covers for much of the car’s life). It is worth noting this example specified with a black dash, door caps, and console leather (vs. brown, as was standard). The dash leather is in beautiful condition, with extremely minor shrinkage around one defroster vent. The dashboard is otherwise excellent. The wheels are in excellent condition with a small scuff on the left rear wheel but no other blemishes to report. The fragile matte black spoiler has minimal road marks, and appears to have never been touched up or repaired.

The car’s second owner was the first person to register the car after he purchased the car from Mr. Beaudry’s dealership in 2008. At that time the car had 14,000 miles. Mr. Beaudry reported that he was the ONLY person that ever sat behind the wheel up to that point. This particular car is was the second owner’s eighth Ferrari. Fanatical about cars, he bought his first Dino at 24, and was 60 years of age when he sold it to its third owner via Fantasy Junction.

The service work was done by Ron Tonkin’s Grand Turismo in Portland, and records are on file. The 30,000 mile service was performed in August of 2006 at 11,700 miles, along with a number of other items deemed sensible. Based on time, the car is technically due for a major service at this time. That said, the car drives beautifully, in keeping with its lightly used and well cared for background. The A/C blows cold, and all ancillary items appear to be in good working order. We invite interested parties to commission a pre-purchase inspection to confirm the above.

The car is nearly completely stock, with the only modification of consequence being the removal of the cats, pre-cats, and stock exhaust system, which were exchanged for Ferrari test pipes and a Tubi Exhaust System. All the original cats, pre-cats, and exhaust system are included with the sale of the car.

This example is quite complete with maintenance records, the original manual pack (including filled out service book), tools and jack bags, Ferrari car cover, and a complete set of Schedoni fitted luggage, which has never been used.

The car truly is as one might expect for an example having been in the long-term possession of just three enthusiastic owners, and represents a truly excuse-free opportunity to own an appreciating and iconic 12-cylinder Ferrari.
