Description

1991 Porsche 964 Turbo 3.3 Coupe
s/n WPOAAZ962MS480122, Engine no. *61M11751*
Metallic Black with Black Leather

The successor to the now famous 930, the 964 Turbo had big shoes to fill as Porsche’s flagship high performance production car of the era. The cars were more modern in their presentation, provided more creature comforts, and were of course faster than the earlier models. All the 964 Turbos utilized the 5-speed transmission which was fitted to the last of the 930s produced, and in 1990 and 1991, a 3.3L engine with several small revisions to increase horsepower and improve drivability over the 930. In total just 3,660 3.3L 964 Turbos were constructed, vs. 10,004 3.3L 930 Turbos which preceded it. They embody all that is essential in a collectable car; performance, rarity, and an iconic design nature emphasizing Porsche’s form follows function mentality.

This particular 964 Turbo 3.3 enjoys as clean and concise a history as any collector could hope for. It was sold new in April of 1991 by Rector Porsche of Burlingame, California in the colors it wears today. Six months later it received its first fluids change there, and was regularly serviced at appropriate mileage intervals there or at respected independent Porsche service experts Valhalla Automotive Inc., for the next 15 years. The second and present owners purchased the car in 2002, with 20,000 miles indicated at that time. They have continued to enjoy the car in the San Francisco Bay Area, and save for repainting the rear bumper and regular service work (rebuild of the power steering rack, major brake and air conditioning system services), have left it completely original and undisturbed. Detailed invoices are on file for all service work carried out by the present owners, and all work done under the original owner’s custodianship is reflected by the stamps in the warranty and service book. The car is complete with books, tools, jack, extra keys, car cover, records, and a few extras in the form of sheep skins for the seats and a protective bra.

Today the car achieves an honest excellent driver presentation which stresses originality. The Body is essentially untouched, and as such the panel match is excellent and the panels themselves straight. The paintwork shows use marks appropriate for the mileage, mainly on the forward facing frontal area and rear wheel arches. The paint meter readings are below 10mil on all panels, confirming originality. The car sits on beautiful unmarked factory wheels.

The interior is also in original condition and configuration right down to the Blaupunkt radio it was delivered with, and factory steering wheel. The dash is in excellent condition, as are the seats, carpets, headliner, and in fact the presentation of the interior in its entirety. The seats have clearly been protected by covers for much if not all their life.

The engine bay and underside are representative of a well looked after original condition car. The factory undercoating remains undisturbed, and while not detailed for show, the car is mechanically tidy and structurally untouched.
