\\1997 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL 40th Anniversary Edition VIN: WDBFA67F3VF153768 Crimson Metallic with Parchment Leather Interior This is one of just 500 Special Edition 40th Anniversary 500 SLs built to commemorate the first open 300SLs built. Of the 500 built, just half came to the United states, and only two were delivered to the San Francisco Bay Area. While retaining the standard performance features of the 500 SL- capable of 155 miles an hour with 315 horsepower- the rare Anniversary Edition was finished in stunning crimson metallic with parchment leather interior and chestnut wood trimmed dash, steering wheel, and shift knob, and features special 17-inch Evo alloy wheels, as originally featured on the legendary Cosworth 190E 2.5-16 Evo. The car also features special embroidered floormats, and a special embossed case for the books and manuals. This particular car is a one-owner example, sold new in California. As a new car, this example sold for a staggering $91,795! It was fitted with a 6-disc CD changer and heated seat options, which were included in the 40th anniversary specification. With the car come service records from new, mostly with Mercedes-Benz of San Francisco. Currently the car is completely up to date on service. All the gauges, switches, and accessories are fully operational with the exception of the driver`s seat heater which is not operating. The car has just 51,245 miles and has a nice, tight driving feel accordingly. Currently the car sits on good Michelin Pilot 245/45ZR17 tires. Cosmetically the car is in very well kept condition for an everyday driver. It is obvious that it has been enthusiast owned. Other than very minor use marks, and a crack in the right front plastic marker lens, there are no major flaws to speak of. The right front fender was replaced in 2000, and at that time moderate paint work was done. There is minimal pitting to the frontal area or windshield. Stick-on bumper guards have been fitted front and rear. These could be easily removed. There are currently no marks on either the front or rear bumpers. In addition to the removable hard top this car comes with a black soft top and cockpit wind breaker. The interior is also in keeping with a well cared for 50,000 mile car. The carpets show minor discoloration, but the dash, door, and console wood are excellent. The seats are in good condition, with minor creasing, and wear, and moderate wear to the driver`s seat bolster. With the car comes the original window sticker, records from new, the owner`s manuals and holder, and full size spare tire with new Michelin Pilot tire, and cockpit wind breaker. This would make an ideal daily driver for the buyer looking for a distinguished sports roadster at a reasonable price. It is by far the rarest car we offer in this price range!
