Immaculate, Low Mileage, 550 Maranello. Well Maintained by Enthusiastic Owner.
Introduced as the flagship of the Ferrari line in 1996, the Maranello replaced a long line of mid-engined cars that began with the Berlinetta Boxer and was continued by the Testarossa. Meant to recapture the glory days of Ferrari`s legendary front-engined sports cars (most notably the 275GTB and 365GTB/4 Daytona), the Maranello is an indisputably beautiful car. The Pininfarina styling is masculine and muscular without being overstated or macho and the proportions are spot-on. Motivated by a 485hp iteration of Ferrari`s V-12 that transmits power through a 6-speed manual transaxle, the car is both fast and balanced.
This particular example is an immaculate, enthusiast owned, collectors-grade example of the timeless 550 Maranello. The car is nicely optioned with Scuderia shields, red brake calipers, colored upper dashboard, steering wheel, pillars, and headliner, 6-disc CD changer, and contrasting dark blue piping piping. Additionally, a clear bra has been installed, which covers the front bumper, hood, side mirrors, A-pillars, First sold in 2001 (and titled as a 2001), this car has been fastidiously serviced above and beyond the Ferrari recommended intervals by its perfectionist owner. Included in this is a $10,274.67 major belt service completed in May of 2008 less than 3000 miles ago at 14,722 miles. During this service, the following work was performed: replacement of the engine oil and filter, air filters, transmission fluid, brake fluid, and coolant, as well as all four oxygen sensors. Additionally, the idler bearings, spark plugs, fuel filter, radiator hoses, timing belt, ancillary belts and wiper blades were changed as well. The air conditioning was recharged as well. Two years and 4500 miles earlier, the owner had the previous 30k major service completed at a cost of $9948.04, which also included the replacement of the front shock actuator/sensor assemblies. New Pirelli PZero Rosso tires were fitted front and rear at 14,727 miles. Numerous other repairs have also been performed, and there is a file with many records indicating the fastidious level of care that the car has received. All service work has been performed at Ferrari Maserati of Silicon Valley. Additionally, the front bumper was repainted 400 miles ago to remove chips.
The car is in excellent condition throughout. The body and paint are barely distinguishable from new, with excellent paint and only a few small chips from road use. The wheels are excellent as well, with no kerbing, and the glass and lights also show almost no wear or aging.
The interior is also excellent, with a lovely and striking shade of blue leather, which is nicely offset by navy blue piping. The leather is in excellent condition throughout, with only some wear on the driver’s bolster. The dashboard is excellent, being free from shrinkage and warping. The remaining leather (which covers just about every surface, including the console, dashboard, pillars, door panels, visors, and headliner) is free from signs of aging or wear. The carpets are excellent as well, and the car comes with a set of luxurious embroidered floor mats with prancing horses on them.
The trunk and engine compartment are both in as-new condition and are extremely clean. Inside of the trunk is the original Becker 6-CD changer, original compressor, tool set, and manual pack in leather holder. The car also comes with its original books and tools, as well as the original documentation from its sale, including the window sticker (showing a price of $217,054.00) and Ferrari mag lite.
This is an extraordinarily appealing example of this attractive model. Its low mileage, fully serviced status, irreproachable cosmetic condition, and gorgeous color combination make this car very appealing. It is a no-stories, no-excuses car that is ready to be enjoyed and admired. Moreover, with over $130,000 in depreciation already out of the way, its future owner can be sure that the car is a both a rationally and emotionally attractive proposition.
