Description

2003 Ferrari 575 Maranello
VIN: ZFFBV55A530133710
Argento Nurburgring with Tan Leather

Introduced in 1996, the flagship 550 Maranello replaced a long line of twelve-cylinder mid-engine cars that began with the Berlinetta Boxer and advanced to the Testarossa. Designed to capture the glory days of Ferrari’s legendary front-engine sports cars (notably the legendary 275GTB and 365 GTB/4 “Daytona”), the Maranello was welcomed by an enthusiastic public and jubilant automotive press. The Pininfarina styling evoked all the grace and muscularity of many earlier Ferraris without succumbing to then fashionable retro design themes. The aggressive, yet beautifully proportioned body hunkered down over the 485 hp V12 engine and 6-speed manual transaxle, delivering a delightful harmony of power and grace in a highly capable and surprisingly agile road car.

In 2002 improvements arrived in the 575 including a redesigned interior, larger disc brakes, and a more powerful engine. Having learned much from the 550 development, the 575 now included vastly improved aerodynamics, adaptive suspension, and for the first time coupled with the V12, featured the ‘F1’ electrohydraulic manual gearbox. The big change, however, was under the hood which included a Bosch Motronic fuel-injected 5748cc V12 engine putting out a remarkable 508 hp with 434 lb ft of torque. All this allowed the Maranello to reach 60mph in a mere 4.2 seconds and quarter mile times of 12.2 seconds. Comfort and power were hallmarks of the 575 Maranello offering refined leather interiors, racing inspired exterior features, and exquisite Pininfarina design details all combined in a wonderfully balanced gran touring car.

This particular Maranello was delivered to Ferrari of San Francisco October 20, 2003. According to the owner’s manual accompanying the car, the first owner was David Liskin, Carmel, CA. A current copy of the Carfax indicates that Liskin sold the car in 2005, having logged at that time just 2,690 miles. The second owner retained the car in both Texas and Alabama until 2013, performing general service and maintenance as needed. In 2011, the car received rear end damage when it was struck while parked. Three years later, in 2014, the car was sold to the next owner who retained it until 2019. In 2013 with 12,118 miles recorded a $9,000 service was performed which included timing belt, tensioner, and gaskets, oil and fluids, accelerator sensor, right headlamp ballast controller, Iridium spark plugs, a new thermostat, new hood struts, and replacing a low-pressure power steering hose. The most recent service included four new tires along with the installation of new tire pressure sensors.

Today this 575 Ferrari presents as a fine example of one of the very best touring cars of the modern era. Finished in silver over Saddle Leather interior, the beautiful color complements the interior perfectly, delivering an elegant understated exterior with a refined sporting interior. The car is outfitted with the desirable F1 gearbox, Ferrari emblem fender shields, modular wheels, and red brake calipers and power Daytona seats. The previous owners have minimized mileage accumulation to an indicated 14,773 miles, exercising admirable restraint so as to maintain the overall condition. In preparation for sale, Ferrari expert Patrick Ottis has completed mechanical work on the car including the installation of a new oil pressure sender and radiator cap. The clutch was measured at that time and indicated a 50% wear reading.

Cosmetically, this 575 Maranello presents as a very nice driver level Ferrari with clean and well-maintained cosmetics. The paint finish presents very well overall with excellent gloss throughout, including professionally matched areas where it has been repainted. There are a few minor chips in the paint including two or three driver’s side door edge, and a few small nicks in the front and rear bumper, all of which are only notable upon up close examination. The tinted glass is in generally good condition with only minor marks on the windshield. The lighting and lenses are in excellent condition with no notable chips, crazing, or significant blemishes. The emblems and script are also very well preserved. Both doors, hood, and trunk all open and shut smoothly, exhibiting excellent panel fit throughout the car. The wheels are in near mint condition and feature red brake calipers peering aggressively through the polished modular aluminum five spoke wheels.

The interior of the car is in especially nice condition. The switches and various knobs, often found over time to be sticky in this series Ferrari, are in very good condition. The leather is supple and smooth with excellent surfacing and no marks of note with exception of the driver’s seat bolster which shows typical wear consistent with age. The interior color combination is both elegant and sporty, recalling the look and feel of the original and inspiring Daytona. The dashboard, instruments and switches are all in excellent condition, with the dashboard top surface having been replaced and fit to an exceptionally high standard. Further interior surfaces including the headliner, center console, door panels, visors, and A-pillars are all in very good to excellent condition. Even the center console remains free from rippling, which is often evident in cars that have had prolonged warm climate exposure. Carpeting is in very good condition. In all, the interior is handsome and fresh with excellent fit and finish befitting a car of this stature. The trunk area remains essentially new and consistent with the rest of the interior, essentially factory original. Given the low miles, proper care, and enthusiastic consideration from previous owners, the quality and excellence of this car speaks highly of the Ferrari brand and the owners who appreciate refined performance machinery.

Under the hood, the amazing Ferrari V12 has been properly preserved, featuring correct castings in excellent condition, factory housings and accessory equipment, and thoughtful detailing. The original fittings and hardware showcase not only the technical capacity of Ferrari as a company, but their continued commitment to artistry even with mechanical components under the hood. Ferrari number plates, factory installation stickers, and verification markings are in place and in excellent condition. The engine and engine compartment are exceptionally clean and correct. The underside of the car is in very good condition, further confirming the low miles. The undercarriage, including suspension components, exhaust system, and hardware appear factory correct. There is no visual evidence of structural damage to the floor or suspension components.

The car drives beautifully with no hesitation in power and smooth shifting from the F1 gearbox through all gears. The car delivers tremendously satisfying leaps of speed through the gear changes, while maintaining superb stability and high-speed control. Road manners are exactly as described when contemporary automotive press praised the car for its phenomenal speed and ease of use. Cornering and braking are poised and commanding, particularly so for a car with 500 horsepower. The overall look and feel of this Ferrari is very satisfying for someone seeking an excellent driver quality low mile example with ample enjoyable miles still to come for the next fortunate owner. The car is accompanied by a complete Ferrari tool set in the factory leather case and a complete set of factory manuals, also housed in a beautiful Ferrari leather case.

This beautiful low mile Ferrari 575 Maranello offers known history and excellent cosmetics. The elegant silver exterior and supple saddle leather interior create a distinctive combination of power and prestige befitting the Maranello name; a union of grace and power ready to please the next enthusiast.
