Developed by BMW Motorsports Division, M series BMWs have become increasingly sought after by enthusiasts and collectors for their rarity, superb engineering, and remarkable performance. The M3 first appeared on the market in 1986 with the E30, followed by the E36 (1992-1999), advancing to the E46 generation (2000-2006). The particular BMW M3 was originally registered to the first owner in Northern California, April 23, 2005. The car remained with the first owner until March 2007 when the second owner purchased it from BMW of San Francisco as a Certified Pre-Owned car, offered with 29,917 miles. At that time the car was sold with a two year or 50,000 miles warranty up to April 2009. The current owner purchased the car in 2015 and has logged approximately 4,000 miles since purchase. In 2016 a Carfax report was entered indicating a 2011 accident had occurred at 45,000 miles, reportedly damaging the rear of the car, left and right rear body sections and a portion of the underside of the car. Unknown at the time of purchase, the car was recently inspected, but no evidence of significant damage has been found. During current ownership, the car has been stored and driven in California with registration and title in the state of Nevada.

Service history indicated on the recently printed Carfax show BMW of San Francisco service at 30k miles including brake fluid flush, cup holder replacement, and general service, as well as the installation of a new sound system also performed by BMW of San Francisco. Also noted in the Carfax, the car has a history of consistently passing emissions inspections, including the most recent test in 2019. Under current ownership, recent services include regular oil changes, a $1,250.00 invoice for new Michelin 235/35 ZR19 front and 275/30 ZR19 rear tires installed at approximately 66,000 miles, a Feb 2019 recall replacement for driver’s airbag and multi-point inspection performed at Weatherford BMW, Berkeley, CA.

Today this beautiful M3 displays excellent overall finishes and glossy silver paint throughout. Currently, the car is fitted with Michelin tires purchased last year, over M series alloy rims which are in excellent condition with minor curb rash showing on the passenger side front rim edge. The glass, lenses, and emblems are all in excellent condition, as are the side glass, rear glass, and windshield. All rubber trim and gaskets are in very good to excellent condition. Visually the car presents very well with excellent stance and finish, having been detailed and properly maintained by the current and former owners, further in support of the minimal miles currently showing today.

The supple black leather interior is an excellent blend of performance and luxury appointments nicely contrasting the silver exterior. The multiple adjustment electric seats are covered in factory leather showing just a bit of seat compression to the lower driver’s seat cushion and typical bolster wear to the driver’s side. The contoured door panels and assorted silver trim are all in great condition. The center console also is in excellent condition, housing the 6-speed manual shifter and other controls. The performance-oriented dashboard and contoured steering wheel delivers a fine combination of instruments and critical systems indicators. The various features function as expected, including the electric retractable sunroof, power seats, and high-quality audio features. Overall the interior presents as one would expect from a documented low mile vehicle. The trunk compartment displays an all-weather trunk liner and carpeting, and a partially complete factory tool tray.

Under the hood, this M3 presents very nicely with excellent detailing to all the visible factory components. The engine retains correct factory finishes, proper engine components, factory stampings, correct labels and correct factory markings. All engine, air cleaner, and air-management ducting are retained, and all M series features remain in excellent condition. Underneath the car, inspection reveals a properly maintained low miles car with only evidence of typical road use, consistent with the miles accumulated. The floor pan and suspension components are clean and tidy.

The car starts, drives and handles as one might expect from a properly maintained, low mileage car. The combination of excellent ride and comfort is a hallmark of these M series cars, offering particular delight cruising at highway speeds but still being very docile for general daily use. The ride and comfort are refreshingly sporting, balanced with the ease of four-passenger capacity and plenty of trunk space. Of course, the car delightfully handles mountain roads and open highways with world-class performance, unlike any other car of this class. The car comes with select records for the current ownership period and a Carfax report.
