Unveiled as a 2004 model, the DB9 represented a significant change in direction for Aston Martin. Following the David Brown years, Aston had encountered many financial troubles that often prevented them from devoting the resources to develop innovative new models from the ground up. The DB9 is represented a completely new generation of Aston Martins and is their first truly modern car. With an impressive aluminum chassis, the DB9 is stronger and 25% lighter than its predecessor. The car is clothed in stunning aluminum and composite bodywork styled by Ian Callum and Henrik Fisker, and is built in an all new state of the art facility at Gaydon. The powerplant is a 5.9 liter V12, and produces 450hp. The suspension is equally impressive, with forged aluminum double wishbones and even aluminum damper housings. The gearbox is mounted at the rear via a torque tube with carbon fiber driveshaft. With innovative technology, superb dynamics, outstanding build quality, and striking aesthetics, the cars are now truly world-class and the marque is enjoying a well-deserved renaissance.

This particular example is a one-owner Volante that has always been in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. The car is in very nice cosmetic condition. The paintwork is very nice overall, with only a few chips on the front of the car from road use. The bodywork and paint are otherwise free of significant blemishes, and the paint still displays excellent luster. The wheels are in very good shape, with a small amount of kerbing on two of the wheels. The top is in good physical condition, with a few stains, but is very good overall. The glass and lights are excellent, and the windscreen has been recently replaced.

The interior is also very good. The leather is excellent throughout, with only minimal wear on the driver’s bolster. The other leather is excellent, as are the carpets. Even the leather on the dashboard is in very good condition. The wood is in good shape overall, though there is a bit of fading at the edges around the navigation screen. The trim and controls are in great shape, and overall, the car makes a strong impression with its quality, durability, and craftsmanship. The gauges are jewel-like in their execution and are in excellent shape. There is one hole in the door weatherstripping in the driver’s door jamb. The trunk and engine compartment are excellent and show like new, being very tidy throughout and quite correct.
