2008 Aston Martin V8 Vantage N24 GT4
s/n AMLVANTAGEN24S014
Metallic Blue with Black Interior
Aston Martin’s V8 Vantage was undoubtedly their most driver-focused car in forty years. The dimensions and development of the car were aimed squarely at the sporting driver seeking a genuine competitor to the Porsche 911 and the Vantage’s specification reflects that. The chassis is aluminum, and the engine is mounted well behind the front axle line for weight distribution. The inclusion of a dry sump oiling system in the street version also demonstrated Aston’s sporting intentions, as did the inclusion of a transaxle mounted at the back of the car. A competition version of the car was also available to customers from Aston Martin Racing, using much the same formula as Porsche’s Cup cars.
Fundamentally quite similar to the street cars, the N24 race cars (named for the Nurburgring 24 hour race), had aerodynamic updates including sills, front splitter, and rear wing, as well as appropriate competition equipment such as roll cage, fuel cell, polycarbonate windows, and stripped interior. The brakes and suspension were also upgraded for racing. The engine internals were lightened and balanced, providing more power.
After being used in Europe, this particular car was raced in the GT4 Asia series and has approximately thirty hours on an engine that was supplied new by Prodrive. The car has 6 sprint races on the engine and new KW suspension was fitted at the same time. The gearbox and differential have not required an overhaule and have approximately 200 hours on them. The car comes with a number of spares including extra coilovers, and the latest GT4 body kit (side skirts and front and rear bumpers).
Cosmetically, the car has good racer cosmetics. It has been recently repainted and was done to good racer standards, though there is overspray in places. The front wheels are in very good shape while the rear ones have marks on the rims from mounting and dismounting tires. The lights are in serviceable condition, with some rash and cracks to the front headlights, while the rear lights are in very good shape. The interior is surprisingly plush, with full factory instrumentation, and much of the switchgear. The interior is tidy, in keeping with a well-prepared and maintained race car, as is the engine compartment.
The car has proven to be a reliable and relatively low maintenance car to run and is eligible for a variety of events in the United States and overseas. The Racers Group is currently running a single make Aston Martin series for these cars, and the Series Directors have expressed enthusiasm at having this car join the series. The car can also be run in SCCA GT3, and NASA events. It would also make a great Enduro car or a highly capable track day car.
PLEASE NOTE: this car is sold on a bill of sale only. It does not have a standard street VIN and cannot be legally registered for road use!
Interesting streetcar trades considered.
