After more than a century of building amazing automobiles, surviving two devastating wars, impossible market shifts, and near financial collapse, Alfa Romeo continues today offering formidable performance cars with beautiful coachwork and stunning presence. The 4C featured a monocoque structural carbon fiber tub with aluminum front and rear subframes and a beautifully designed body shell using sheet molded composite allowing for significant weight reduction without sacrificing strength or durability.

The heart of the 4C is the four cylinder 237 hp turbocharged engine which sits forward of the rear axle in mid engine position, allowing for ideal weight distribution and slight rear bias, which improves launch traction. Four-wheel Brembo disc brakes, double wishbone suspension, and a measured center of gravity at the 16” height results in remarkable stopping distances and jaw dropping cornering capability exceeding many top sports cars at a fraction of the price. All this performance culminates in 0-60 times of 4.2 seconds and a standing quarter mile time of 12.9 seconds at 107 mph.

To commemorate the arrival of the 4C, Alfa Romeo offered the unique “Launch Edition”; a limited run of only 500 cars made exclusively for the North American market. Each of these cars were optioned with carbon fiber headlight housings, carbon fiber spoiler and door caps, rear aluminum extractor with dark finish, Bi-Xenon headlights, dark finish 18” front and 19” rear forged alloy wheels, red brake calipers, racing exhaust system, BMC air cleaner, specifically calibrated shock absorbers, rear anti-roll bar, leather and micro-fiber sport seats with portions in Alcantra, and additional air intakes molded into the front fascia.

All Launch Edition cars were presented with a numbered plaque located just below the shift buttons that engage the 6-speed, TCT (twin clutch transmission) which allows both automatic and manual shifting via paddle shifters on the steering wheel. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via Alfa Romeo's electronic Q2 differential control system easily modulated via the Alfa Romeo DNA selector modes, Dynamic, Natural, or All Weather for various road conditions.

This beautiful one-owner example is #377 of 500 built with the exclusive Launch Edition package. Ordered by a California enthusiast, he has driven the car a mere 1,564 miles since taking delivery. The owner maintained the car with oil changes at 741 miles and 1,083 miles and a new battery installed in March 2020.

Today this Alfa 4C presents essentially as new. The original factory paint is in excellent condition with high gloss covering the original factory red composite body panels. There are no marks of note on the front fascia or any of the typical areas seen in cars with higher miles. The exterior of the car remains in excellent condition including the beautiful alloy wheels, crystal clear headlight covers, and original factory tinted glass.

The interior is trimmed with carbon fiber accents nicely matching the revealed sections of structural carbon in the lower tub construction, adding to the race inspired design of the very well-composed and purposeful cockpit. The interior condition is essentially new with no notable marks to the seating surfaces, excellent perimeter accent color stitching, a beautiful and clean dashboard, and nicely detailed switches and controls. The only items of note are minor scuff marks on the driver’s side entry sills. The fit and finish quality is worthy of the Alfa Romeo lineage dating back to highly refined coachbuilt cars of the last century. The engine compartment remains as new with no modifications from the original specifications, as does the storage area, which is spacious enough to handle overnight bags suitable for weekend getaways.

Over the past few years, multiple automotive journalists have driven the 4C, each raving about the unique feel and positive road manners exhibited in this car. For drivers who want more command of the action, the Dynamic shifting mode allows more manual control while the Natural mode delivers more relaxed cruising and leisurely highway driving.
