Developed by BMW Motorsports Division, the M series BMW has become increasingly sought after by enthusiasts and collectors drawn to the rarity, superb engineering, and remarkable performance. The M3 first arrived in 1986 with the E30 but M development dates back to the early 1970s which is why BMW decided to celebrate 50 years of the M with the 50 Jahre BMW M3 – a very special car, with just 500 made during the production run. Already an impressive platform, the M3 Competition xDrive was the basis for the 50 Jahre series. Starting at nearly $100k for the “regular” M3 Comp variant, the Jahre package, an additional $15k adds distinctive features and trim on top of the already robust 503hp engine and 8-speed XDrive M-tuned all-wheel drive layout to yield impressive 3 second 0-60 jaunts and 11 second quarter mile times. Other features include carbon fiber exterior trim, M series roundel emblems, carbon fiber interior trim, and black leather interior with distinctive M-color contrast stitching for the seats, drive selector knob, seat belts, and headrests.

History of This Car

In December 2022, the current Northern California resident and singular owner purchased this BMW. The car was outfitted with the following cost-added options:

The first and only service was performed at BMW of Mountain View at 5,284 miles including oil and filter change, differential fluid change, brakes and battery checked, and a general maintenance inspection performed.
General Condition

Today this one-owner performance M3 presents confidently in an elegant, glossy, and exclusive M3 gray metallic finish. The exterior finish is in excellent condition throughout the smooth and glossy factory surfaces. There is a chip in the windshield near the driver’s side A-pillar while the remaining side and rear glass, clear front and rear lenses, and exterior body trim are in excellent cosmetic condition including the exclusive M series emblems. There are no indications of body panel damage, and a clear Carfax supports no reported accidents. All openings function as new, with excellent closure, proper gapping, and crisp fit to front and rear bumper caps. The staggered size double-spoke wheels and Pirelli P Zero 275/35 ZR19 front tires and 285/30 ZR20 rear are in excellent condition displaying impressive four-wheel optional carbon ceramic disc brakes topped by optional gold painted brake calipers.

Inside the car, the supple factory black leather interior exhibits essentially new finishes throughout, accented by M stitched colors and features with carbon fiber accents. All interior components have been beautifully maintained including smooth and supple leather trimmed seats, excellent stitching, sculpted dash, inlaid carbon fiber trim, and LED accessory lighting. The front leather seats offer power settings with memory and fantastic bolstering that is supportive for sport driving and comfortable for long range cruising. The Harmon/Kardon Surround Sound audio system offers superb sound supported by 2 LCD information monitors integrated into the dashboard. Every aspect of the interior from the M branded exclusive details to the 50 Jahre commemorative plaque creates a comfortable and impressive driving experience. The ample rear seating area is clean and well-maintained, and the trunk compartment remains essentially as new.

Under the hood, the 503hp performance engine is in excellent visual condition. Features and components are essentially new. Every factory component, trim piece, and manufacturer’s engine compartment sticker remain in place in excellent cosmetic condition. The undercarriage of the car further supports the documented low miles showing no significant road marks on the chassis pans and correct, clean factory finishes. Suspension and various exposed components revealed in the underside are also in excellent condition, displaying a clean and fresh appearance.

Driving this M3 is surprisingly easy, yet the extraordinary power on tap is readily accessible with just slight pressure on the throttle. Power is immediate and commanding. It’s easy to see why the motoring press has continued to laud the latest M3 with superlatives boasting it to be among the best performance sedans ever built.
