History of this Camaro Racecar
Originally constructed using a 1989 series Camaro body, this tube frame race car was built to compete in SCCA GT1 racing. The tube frame was built by the Milwaukee, WI based regional builder Jim Trotnow of Trotnow Racing. Constructed to specifications consistent with SCCA requirements. After racing in the Milwaukee area, the car was purchased by the previous owner in 2010 who refurbished it extensively including powder coating the chassis, installing updated suspension, and other updates. In 2018, a 377 cu. in. engine was installed, dyno tested at 800 hp. A 5-speed Jerico transmission is paired to a Ford 9” rear end with Wavetrac LSD, Strange center case, and Motion 3.89 ring and pinion using Motol 300 gear oil. The car is outfitted with Brembo brakes, stainless steel headers, C&R radiator, transmission and differential coolers, Penske 3-way adjustable shocks, adjustable sway bars, and numerous additional features.
According to the logbooks accompanying this car, the first race was at Blackhawk Regionals, Milwaukee, followed by Mid-Ohio Nationals, both in 1991. Racing continued through 2001 in the Blackhawk Valley Region, SCCA and Nebraska areas through the early 2000s. In 2006 a new body shell was installed, and new yellow and blue paint was applied with #99 Orv’s Pizza livery. By 2011 the car was raced at Elkhart Lake and other venues through 2015 when the livery was further updated. Under most recent prior ownership this car was raced three times annually, confirmed by logbooks accompanying the car. Races from prior ownership include podium finishes in Group 10 at Road America in 2014 and 2015, where a 2:12 lap time was recorded – a figure that is notably faster than NASCAR Xfinity Series cars. Under current ownership this car participated in the 2019 VARA Big Bore Bash and 2023 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.
This car is eligible to run in SCCA events as well as SVRA, HSR, VSCDA and in the annual Road America July event. Dry weight is 2,869 with full fuel. Exterior dimensions are 194” length with 81” width at the widest point. The yellow and blue finishes are painted on the body panels with removable vinyl sponsor and promotional graphic features.

Mechanical Features and Details of this Camaro
The newer Camaro body, which replaced the former 1989 body, is believed to have been installed in 2006. The body features include front canards, plexiglass windows, removable body sections, and an adjustable rear wing. Inside the car a carbon fiber dashboard features an array of Pro Comp gauges including a central tachometer with a shift light. An OMP single piece racing seat is equipped with an Autopower racing harness (dated December 2025) and quick-release flat bottom Momo steering wheel. The interior is equipped with a fire suppression system (dated December 2025), an array of switches including brake bias selector, and a mechanical sway bar adjustment lever located on the driver’s side door.
The 377 cu. in. V8 engine was rebuilt in 2018 by experts at Advanced Engine Concepts, Green Lake, Wisconsin. Copies of dyno sheets accompanying the car indicate over 800 hp and 600 lb. ft. torque. Specifications documenting the engine build include a Callies billet crankshaft, Oliver rods, CP pistons, Total seal rings, Clevite rod and main bearings, Xceldyne titanium valves, retainers, and keepers, and Joe Hornick (PSI) valve springs (replaced in 2022), T&D shaft rockers, Comp Cams camshaft, and Jones power steering pump and tank (rebuilt in 2022). The Ford 9” differential was installed in 2021.
In 2020, under current ownership, the Jerico 5-speed transmission was rebuilt along with a new clutch. At that time all gears and shafts were cryo treated and micro polished, and a new Quarter Master clutch and release bearings were installed. The car is fitted with a fuel cell which runs braided hoses and AN fittings.
Today this Camaro presents as a visually and mechanically potent race car with mechanical integrity and professional race features ready for ongoing track action. The yellow and blue paint is glossy overall but has some cracking on the hood and signs of track use typical of cars that have been enjoyably raced. The fiberglass body panels exhibit generally good fit and finish throughout the contoured body lines. All body panels are easily removed including the rear wing. A clear plexiglass windscreen and rear window are part of the effective aerodynamic surface flow leading into the adjustable rear wing. The wide wheels are currently shod with massive Hoosier slick race tires. Competition touches include front canards, integrated roll bar and cage, and ground hugging Penske shocks with adjustable sway bars.
The cockpit is tidy and outfitted with contemporary instrumentation, contoured and padded OMP single seat, and competition Autopower racing harness with seat belts dated to December 2025. The interior delivers a purposeful series of controls and instrumentation in keeping with readiness for racing. Professionally prepared and recently raced at the 2023 Monterey Rolex Historic Reunion, this is a fantastic opportunity to own and campaign a very capable race car.
Although this car has been recently prepared for racing and participated in racing events this year, we highly recommend a professional shop with racing car prep history inspect this car and properly prepare it before use in a competition setting.
