General History

The XKR 175 was offered one year only as a coupe, in celebration of 75 years of Jaguar motor cars. Uniquely badged and offered only in Absolute Black finish, the “175” featured uniquely designed front and rear spoilers, aerodynamic rocker panel trim, rear diffuser, and red brake calipers topping disc brakes all around. Unique silver finished ten-spoke 20-inch wheels and performance tires complete the package. The interior for all 175 examples produced offered charcoal leather and dark red stitching complemented by gloss black veneer inserts and door sill plates heralding the rarity of this offering - XKR 175 - 1 of 175.

Under the hood the newly introduced aluminum-block, 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 delivered 510 hp and 461 pound-feet of torque. Offering 0-to-60 time of 4.6 seconds, the combined performance and elegance of this legendary brand delivered on all counts including R-spec brakes, fantastic suspension, and a superbly mated 6-speed automatic, which could be manually shifted with paddles. With just 175 examples built, Jaguar offered this number as a nod to the top speed of 175 mph which these cars have proven to be able to achieve in road tests.

History of this Jaguar XKR 175

This low mile, one-owner 175 was delivered to San Jose British Motors, in August 2010 and sold to the first and current owner, a resident of Palo Alto, CA, in September 2010. A copy of the window sticker indicates the premium XKR 175 75th Anniversary Limited Edition option adding $8,500 to the $95k XKR price.
The car was regularly serviced at the selling dealer beginning with a 15k service at 1,100 miles (2011) and a 30k service at 2,600 miles (2012). Regular services continued with the same selling dealer (renamed Jaguar Land Rover San Jose) including interval services, multipoint inspections, and fluid/filter changes. In January 2017, a 75k service was performed including a coolant fluid exchange, power steering fluid exchange, brake fluid exchange, and a new water pump and seals. In August 2018, a 105k service was performed including fluids and new spark plugs. A set of Dunlop Sport Max tires were installed in 2019, a new AC air compressor was installed, and all four wheels were reconditioned. In 2021 a new battery was installed, all fluids checked, and oil and filter changed. In 2023, oil and filter service and brake fluid exchange were performed, a new cabin air filter installed, new rear brake pads installed, and wheel bearings repacked, all of which was performed at Menlo Auto Repair.
In October 2024 with 16,000 miles, the car returned to Jaguar Land Rover San Jose where it was comprehensively serviced including new drive belts, oil and filter change, power steering fluid exchange, the installation of Michelin Pilot Sport tires, and reconditioning of all four road wheels.

Condition and Ownership

Today this Jaguar presents in excellent condition with beautiful glossy and smooth Absolute Black paint. The finish is rich and lustrous particularly with the slightly hunkered down stance and perimeter aero features unique to the 175 limited edition. In addition to the excellent exterior finishes, the door jams, inner surfaces, and the front and rear bumpers are in very good condition with minor paint blemishes typical of general road use noted on the front and rear bumpers and one of the rocker panels. The metal body panels have been metered with a digital paint meter returning single digit numbers (2.8 – 4.0 microns) indicative of factory original paint. Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 255/35 ZR20 front tires and 285/30 ZR20 rear tires are mounted on beautifully finished silver dual spoke wheels accented by red calipers over disc brakes at all four corners. Lenses, glass, and lighting are all in excellent cosmetic condition throughout, though the driver’s side headlight is currently illuminating at a lower light intensity. All emblems, script lettering, and exterior details are beautifully finished and in excellent condition consistent with the low miles.

The beautiful factory original Warm Charcoal premium leather seating surfaces are in excellent condition showing one area of wear on the driver’s mid-left seat bolster. The center console, door panels, and dashboard remain in excellent condition. The power adjustable heated front seats feature unique red stitching over the leather seating panels which continues on the dashboard, center console, and door panels. The dash and center console are accented with gloss black piano veneer inserts, adding a touch of elegance to this highly capable GT performance car. The instrumentation operates properly as do all systems, air conditioning, premium sound system, and central infotainment screen. The condition of the carpeting, rear seats, interior side surfaces, and other soft surfaces are all excellent throughout.

Under the hood, the beautiful supercharged V8 engine is clean and unmodified from new, highlighted by elegant and purposeful castings displaying distinct insignias, all nestled in a remarkably clean engine compartment which has been carefully and regularly serviced by Jaguar specialists. The underside shows no visual evidence of structural compromise, further supported by the documentation and ownership history that has accompanied this car since new.

The car starts, runs, and drives per original specifications delivering wonderfully balanced performance through a warm V8 exhaust note. Driving manners are impressive with a combination of power and poise that even moderately skilled performance drivers can enjoy. The combination of the 6-speed automatic transmission with manual paddle shift capabilities and torquey V8 engine delivers a powerful punch on command. Handling is smooth and sporty, while highway driving is smooth, elegant, and quiet even when gently summoned to passing speeds.
