General History

Though only in operation from 2012-2018, VLF (initially named VL Motors) was an American manufacturer with clear intentions – to build premium performance cars based on proven platforms. Initially developed by Bob Lutz and business executive Gilbert Villarreal (the V and L in the company name), famed designer Henrik Fisker joined the establishment concurrent with the development of the Viper-based Force 1. Constructed around the 2015 Dodge Viper platform, the carbon fiber body was penned by Fisker and constructed utilizing the main center section of the stock Viper body, cowl, and door structure while featuring new front and rear body sections, new doors, and all new front and rear facias. The radical redesign resulted in the unique Force 1 which elevated the already visually dynamic Viper to supercar level.

The lurid rear fenders, wide stance, impressive wheel arches, and wide open grille were just a few of the amazing visual features of this unique and impressive design. And while the exterior was all new, the interior was also refined featuring premium leather and suede materials, digital navigation, premium audio, lightweight manual adjustment sport seats, and a smartphone center pocket to name just a few of the many interior amenities. The fifth generation Viper engine was also heavily modified with new camshafts, higher flow headers, and free flow exhaust to deliver 745 hp, an increase of over 100hp when compared to the standard Viper. Getting power to the rear wheels was handled via a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission. Top speed was noted at 218 mph with a 0-60 time of 3.0 seconds. Of course, power and handling improvements were also developed including contributions by Viper expert Ben Keating who incorporated active suspension capable of millisecond adjustments to maximize traction and improve overall handling. Putting all that power to the ground was vastly improved with 13” rear and 10.5” front tires mounted to Fisker custom alloy wheels.

Debuted at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, the company announced production of just 50 units planned for 2016, assuming a $10 million investment infusion would be forthcoming. As production began on the first units, all of which were to be sold through Keating’s Viper Exchange dealerships at $286,500 MSRP, funding lacked momentum to support the expected production. Just five examples were produced.

History of this Force 1

This VLF Force 1 was purchased by the current and singular owner with just 8 miles on the odometer. Documented on the current clean title, mileage was recorded February 15, 2017. According to information gathered from industry articles documenting the history of these cars, just five Force 1 models were completed before the company closed shop and the development team moved on to other projects. This car is believed to have been constructed for principal partner and designer Henrik Fisker (the “F” in VLF) . The car was sold to the current owner essentially with test miles only, making them the first titled and registered owner of this rare and unique supercar.

Under current ownership this car has been regularly serviced and maintained by the original owner including annual services, new battery, a new keyless remote battery, coolant flush, and general inspection drivability tests performed as mileage accrued to the current miles indicated on the odometer.

Condition and Ownership

Today, this VLF Force 1 presents in excellent condition throughout. The Graphite metallic paint is an exquisite color choice with excellent gloss and deep luster which adds to the sinister design and wickedly wide stance. The single piece clamshell hood fits very well to the cowl and front bumper, and the body lines are cleverly integrated into the Viper center section, glass, and carbon fiber roof, flanked by dual carbon fiber side view mirrors. Additional carbon fiber front air dam and rear diffuser are impressive finishing touches to the dramatic body design. The impressive Henrik Fisker brand wheels are in excellent condition wearing the original Pirelli PZero 305/25 ZR21 front and 355/25 ZR21 rear tires wrapped over impressive four-wheel disc brakes topped with red finished Brembo calipers. The dramatic glass, UTV Laser Blade rear lighting, headlight lenses, front accessory lighting, emblems, lettering, and details announcing this rare one of five Force 1 models built are all essentially as new.

The interior is brilliantly finished with features that appear new showing virtually no wear to the premium red leather luxury seating surfaces, center console, and dashboard. The dashboard and assorted instrumentation properly illuminate, displaying a myriad of features and systems that monitor the 8.4 liter V10 powertrain and other integrated systems. The condition of the carpeting, door panels, and other interior surfaces is excellent throughout. Under the hood, the massive V10 engine is clean and unmodified displaying factory finishes, custom touches applied by VLF as part of their build requirements, and proper care extended by prior and current owners. The undercarriage is in excellent condition with no evidence of structural damage to the floor pan or suspension mounting points further supported by a clean Carfax and original low miles.

The car starts, runs, and drives with impressive power on tap offering amazing V10 power. Driving manners are jaw-dropping, challenging even moderately skilled performance drivers to keep all that power under control. The combination of the 6-speed manual and torque-monster acceleration is an impressive American supercar statement of power and unique style. Highway driving is surprisingly smooth followed by superlative braking coming down from highway speeds.

With its unique design, handsomely appointed leather interior, and plenty of power on tap, this Force 1 is one of the most impressive American built supercars to arrive on the performance stage. One of five built, the Force 1 is sure to impress anyone from local shows and national concours exhibits, to concept car events and road tours as one of the most remarkable statements of contemporary design and sports car excellence.
