Description

Built in November 1953, the only all alloy body Europa of the sixteen produced by Pininfarina. Painted silver, with Anthos blue leather as original. Unusual options: average speed indicator, 300 kph speedometer, dual wiper motors and hood release levers. Original owner was Jean Murray. Featured in 'Le Ferrari de Pininfarina' on pages 182-3; Antoine Prunet's 'The Road Cars' page 120; Fitzgerald Merritt (ed.4) on page 43; 'Ferrari by Pinifarina' by Etienne Cornil on page 49, where it is shown as the Paris show car. Aluminum was used in almost every body part of the car including the inner door panels, dash, window winding mechanisms, window trim, and floor. The proper 3 liter Lampredi engine from Europa #0313 was rebuilt and installed. The transmission is the large center-shift similar to that used in the 375MM. The odometer reads just over 56,000km, which is probably correct based on pedal wear and overall condition of the suspension and other compenents, though much of them were renewed when the car underwent a thorough cosmetic and mechanical restoration.
