Description

1966 Alfa Romeo Giulia GT s/n AR616579 White with Dark Grey Interior This is an exceptionally original `stepnose`, `low arch` Giulia in extremely nice `driver` condition. This black plate car that was sold new to an architect from the San Francisco area who originally picked the car up in Rome. It has been used regularly and has always been garaged and maintained. It shows much evidence of recent maintenance including some rebuilding of the suspension (front balljoints, all new shocks, front springs), hydraulic work, a new fuel pump, motor mounts, and a complete new exhaust system. A visual inspection reveals an extremely honest car that is well above average `driver` condition. The car appears to have been repainted and is holding up well, with a few chips that have been touched up. The glass is generally nice and the wheels appear to have been very recently refinished to a high standard. There is minor and inconsequential bubbling to the right rocker and the rear wheel arches. Close examination of the front part of the right rocker and adjacent floor section reveals evidence of repair, likely from accident damage, rather than rust damage. This is only apparent from below with the car on a lift and is not outwardly apparent. The remainder of the bodywork is free of deterioration or damage. The chrome ranges from good to excellent and is on the whole extremely presentable. The tires are new period correct Michelin XZX`s. The interior is extremely nice. The upholstery, headliner, carpet, dashboard, and door panels are in lovely condition. The trunk is also in nice unrestored condition. The correct matting is present and in fine condition. The engine compartment is unrestored but correct. The frequently missing cast airbox is present as is a pair of Webers. The engine compartment also reveals evidence of recent work. The car also runs extremely well, and while we do not have the documentation, we can state with reasonable certainty that the motor and transmission have both been rebuilt. The motor is tight and strong, and certainly does not feel as though it has covered 124,000 miles. The transmission is similar, and the synchromesh is excellent, including 2nd gear. We encourage the most stringent of inspections to verify the car`s mechanical health. It is extremely difficult to find such original and well-preserved cars. This car has clearly been looked after properly and is both ready to use and incredibly charming. All reasonable offers considered.
