Matching Numbers. Beautifully Restored and Ready To Be Enjoyed.
1966 Ferrari 275 GTS
s/n 7611, Engine no. 7611
Rosso Corsa with Tan Leather
Introduced alongside the 275 GTB at the Paris motor show in October 1964, the 275 GTS is a stylish and elegant open air car. Featuring disc brakes and independent suspension all round, and a new rear-mounted transaxle for improved weight distribution, the cars were technologically advanced and performed well. Together with their understated but beautiful Pininfarina styling, the cars were and remain desirable and usable open cars to actually drive and enjoy.
This particular car is an ideal example to either casually show or for use on tours. Cosmetically and mechanically, it has been the subject of a recent restoration, is exceptionally well detailed, and makes a strong presentation. That said, it is not done to platinum standards as to discourage its new owner from using it in driving events or for weekend enjoyment. It is matching numbers, and very correct in terms or equipment and details.
The restoration included considerable mechanical work including new suspension bushings and brake work by Ward Rose of Modesto, California. The engine was completely rebuilt (approximate cost was $50,000) by Sal Garcia at Waterfront Automobilia, a well respected Ferrari service and restoration outfit.
The body preparation and beautiful dark red paint work was carried out by Brian Moore Restorations of Sacramento, California. The interior was done by Joe Anino, also of Sacramento, California. The chrome was restored, and both the engine bay and undercarriage have been comprehensively detailed.
The 275 GTS is one of the finest open Ferraris ever produced. Incorporating the new 3.3 liter engine and 5-speed transaxle, these cars have an infinitely more modern feel than the 250 examples which preceded them. s/n 7611 is mechanically sorted, and a true pleasure to drive.
Fantasy Junction had the opportunity to place s/n 7611 with its current custodian in 1999, having purchased it from the estate of Mr. Mark McClintick. The restoration work mentioned above was performed during current ownership period, with few, careful, dry weather miles logged since.
This wonderful 275 GTS is offered with an original and largely complete tool bag with jack and knock off hammer, books with pouch, and beautifully polished matching Borrani wire wheel spare shod with Michelin XWX tire, as well as invoices for all restoration work performed during the current ownership period.
