Description

1966 Ferrari 330 GTC s/n 9895 Silver with Black Interior Widely regarded to be one of the best driving and most usable classic Ferraris, the 330GTC is highly sought after today. These cars are extremely nice to drive, even in today`s traffic, because of the wide torque band provided by the 4 litre V-12 and the tractability and balance that result from the combination of the transaxle and torque tube. Its elegant, understated lines, and classic Ferrari layout means that the 330 GTC is finally emerging from years of under-appreciation. This particular car is an extremely honest and sound car that has a wonderful unmolested feel to it. Aside from a few years in Oregon during the mid 1990`s, the car has been in California at least since 1976, and the car comes with its 6-digit blue California license plate. There is an enormous file of records with the car showing all of the work performed since 1976, as well as a spreadsheet including all of the pertinent information for the receipts since the 12th of Februay 1976. The receipts indicate that the car was conscientiously kept up, but never completely disassembled or restored. The cylinder heads were rebuilt during the mid 1980`s, and more recently, the car has been generally looked after and kept fresh by Patrick Ottis. Items such as lubrication, ball joints, radiator repair, carburetor adjustments have all been performed and ensure that the car remains in excellent working condition. Cosmetically, the car is very nice, with a high quality older repaint that shows some signs of wear and age but remains very presentable and attractive. The gaps are very good throughout, and the doors open and shut properly. The wheels are presentable as well, with some minor wear and aging. There is no evidence of bodily damage anywhere except for a bubble smaller than a pencil eraser behind the right rear wheelarch. The chrome is excellent throughout, with light scratching and very light pitting only. The Carello headlamps are excellent, as are all other lights and lenses. The glass is very good as well, with only light pitting to the windscreen. The interior has an excellent original feel, with original upholstery to the door panels, dashboard, and seats. The seats are free from cracking and creasing, and exhibit only light wear at the very bottom of the driver`s bolster piping. The dash, door panels, and other upholstery appear to be original and are in almost time-warp condition. The carpeting is excellent and possibly original as well, as is the wood on the dashboard and steering wheel. The instruments are cosmetically excellent and mostly functional, though the clock does not appear to function. The headliner is original and excellent, the interior lights work, the original seatbelts are still installed, and the overall feel is that of a superbly preserved original car. The engine compartment is detailed to very high standards and extraordinarily clean, with a gloss finish to the airbox. The correct knurled keepers are installed as well, and the general condition and cleanliness of the engine is more in keeping with that of a freshly restored car. The trunk presents extremely nicely too, and contains the tool roll with tools, and the jack, though there is no jack bag. The car also comes with reprinted owner`s manual, spare parts catalogue, and workshop manual. This car drives superbly and generally reinforces the impression that this is an unmolested very high caliber car that has been properly looked after. The engine makes good power, little smoke, and displays proper oil pressure. The transaxle functions well, displaying excellent synchros, warm and cold, including on 2nd gear. The shocks do not stick and the chassis and suspension feel tight. The general impression is very coherent and satisfying, and reminds the driver of why these cars are so sought-after and well-regarded. This is a wonderful opportunity to acquire a car that is perfect to be enjoyed. It is cosmetically attractive and drives wonderfully, but not so nice that it cannot be used as extensively and frequently as the new owner likes. It has been properly looked after, has not been molested, and highly complete, with tools, jack, records, and books. With its alloy wheels, original understated color combination, and also its wonderful performance, this car makes perhaps the ultimate `sleeper` statement within the vintage Ferrari world and is sure to bring smiles to all who behold it.
