1968 Ferrari 330 GTC
s/n 11399, Engine no. 11399
Silver with Dark Blue Leather and Carpets

Certainly among the highest caliber 330 GTCs in existence. Complete mechanical and cosmetic restoration in 2004 to as-new standards, including color combination, by respected Ferrari and Lanica expert Tony Nicosia as his personal car. Approximately 5,000 miles completed since restoration. Exceptional presentation including fully detailed undercarriage. Very late serial number car with all factory improvements. Complete tool roll and jack with bag, books, and other documentation. Available for less than the cost of restoration, and fit for national level concours achievements or to drive across the country.

Restoration details:

The engine was completely rebuilt with new cam chains, pistons, wrist pins, intake and exhaust valves and guides, bearings, and seals. The bores were honed and the engine balanced. The water pump was rebuilt, and new carburetor throttle shafts were installed. The Magnia Marelli alternator was rebuilt, new cooling system and heater hoses were installed, and the fan belt replaced. The radiator was restored, pressure tested, and repainted, and new radiator fan motor was sourced and installed. The lower reservoir tank was serviced, and a new radiator cap sourced. When the engine was installed, new engine mounts were used.

Effectively, all ancillary items in the engine bay were also attended to. New battery cables, fuel lines, and plug wires were sourced. Even new hood springs were purchased and installed. Correct black crackle and black semi-gloss finished were applied where appropriate. New decals were purchased for the coils and other items to insure the appearance was as-new.

As part of the mechanical restoration the fuel tanks were removed, cleaned, and repainted. A new electric fuel pump and fuel sender were installed, with all new fuel lines, including the fuel filler neck hose. The exhaust we refinished with new OEM style exhaust hangers. The gauges were sent to MO MA for inspection and reconditioning as needed. The heater cores were cleaned and tested prior to re-assembly. New suspension bushings were installed at the shock mounts, and sway bars. New tie-rod ends were sourced. The shocks were rebuilt, and installed with new shock boots. After the suspension was completed, a four wheel alignment was performed. All four brake calipers were rebuilt. New dull and bright cadmium plating was applied to all hardware where appropriate.

The transaxle was rebuilt with all new synchronizer rings, shift ring, limited slip discs, and bearings where applicable, and installed with new mounts. The driveshaft was serviced and balanced, as was the clutch. A new clutch cable was also installed.

The car was prepared and painted by Steve Beckman’s at Beckman’s Metal Works in Costa Mesa, California. The chrome was stripped and redone by Christensen’s Plating, both well known shops responsible for many Pebble Beach awards. Care was taken to use the period correct, fine-flake silver metallic. The car was assembled with new weather stripping at the hood, trunk, doors, and front and rear windows. New side window “fuzzies” were sourced and installed. When the rear window was installed a new electrical defroster element was applied. New Pinninfarina and Ferrari badges were installed. The wheels were refinished, new Michelin XWX tires mounted, and the wheels balanced.

Thomas’ Auto Trim reupholstered the interior. This seats, door panels, and carpets were all done in dark blue, which is the original color. The dash pad, rear package tray, and center console were all done in black vinyl as per original specifications. The headliner material and door pillars were re-trimmed in the correct material. New pedal covers, sun visor rod ends, and a new gear shift knob were installed. Thomas’ Auto Trim also provided new trunk carpet in the correct tweed. The dash wood veneer was re-varnished. A sample of the original hood pad was sent to Re-Originals for replication so the correct material could be sourced.
