Description

1969 Corvette Historic Racecar Yellow with Orange Flames s/n 194679S703003 This Corvette was purchased new by Ray Knight of the Falls City Corvette Club of Louisville, Kentucky. It came with the big block 390hp, four speed, and the transistor ignition of that year. In 1971 Ray converted it to an NCCC group III car. At the 1973 convention in Indianapolis he DNFd when the corvette lost an argument with the fence near turn 11 at IRP. The 1973 nose clip was then added. Berry Saunders bought the car and sold it a few years later to Bobby Williams, one of NCCCs former National Champions, of the Anderson Corvette Association. Several years later John Vaughn of the Lafayette Corvette Club bought the car. He competed with it for several years in NCCCs RP class before selling it to Bob and Tim Graham and Doug Grenard of the Lafayette Corvette club. The car was modified to a 350 with a two speed power glide and a 3.70 rear end. The group ran every speed event in Indiana region in 1990 and Doug Grenard was quite successful finishing third in the region. Some time later Tom Sadecki purchased the car and raced it in SCC/BP and Vintage AP in 1994 and 1995 in the Midwest area. We have logbooks for this. The car was then purchased by Larry Neely and raced in Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association in 1995-1997. More recently the car was raced in Corinthian Vintage Auto Racing Association, and classified as a Group 1 FIA car. The 355CI motor was rebuilt by Rhyne Competition Engines and has 550-600 hp. It is fitted with aluminum heads with roller lifters and rockers. It now has a Muncie four speed transmission to a 3.55 rear end. The chassis has a full cage which extends forward to the radiator support. It has a 20 gal fuel cell and a fire system. This car is offered race ready and is an ideal tool for vintage racing in HSR, NCCC, VARA, or SCCA Vintage, or even SCCA Regionals. We have invoices for over $16,000 in recent rebuilds and improvements. Spares with the car include: 4 wheels, 1 intake manifold, 2 rebuilt half shafts, 1 complete differential, 2 MSD boxes, and an MSD distributor cap, among other items.
