2004 Porsche Carrera GT
WP0CA29804L001054
GT Silver Metallic with Natural Dark Grey Leather Interior
Originally built as a concept car to showcase Porsche’s new 10-cylinder engine, the Carrera GT was not committed to production until the car’s enthusiastic public reception at the 2000 Geneva Motorshow. Unlike the 959, the Carrera GT was a completely new design from the ground up, and the car is visually and technologically stunning. Technological features include carbon fiber monocoque and bodywork, remote pushrod-actuated suspension, carbon ceramic brakes and clutch, and of course the dry sump 5.7 liter V10 engine, which produces 612hp. The engine uses closed deck architecture and has extremely low reciprocating mass, which, combined with the balance of a 10-cylinder layour, results in an impressive 8400rpm redline. The performance is shocking, with 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds, and a top speed of 205mph, which is safely managed by the carefully designed aerodynamics. 1270 Carrera GT’s were built, of which 604 came to the United States.
This particular example was among the first Carrera GT’s to arrive, and is a two-owner car. It is well-optioned with luggage, stereo with CD player, and air conditioning. The current owner bought the car in 2004 with 3000 miles on it, and the car has been properly looked after, with regular servicing and a new clutch. It was last serviced 4000 miles ago.
The car is in excellent cosmetic condition throughout. The car has tremendous presence, and there are numerous carbon fiber details, such as the rear diffuser and front intake, which are absolutely lovely. The front end has almost no wear whatsoever, and the wheels are free from kerbing. The glass and lights are like new, and the bodywork is excellent across the board.
The interior is beautifully detailed and is almost completely made of carbon fiber. The floors, monocoque sills, doors, and removable roof panels are all bare carbon fiber, and are extremely impressive. The seats are fixed back racing items with leather trim, and the dashboard and steering wheel are also trimmed in leather. The shift knob is beech wood in the same style as that used in the legendary 917. The switches and controls are unique to the Carrera GT and are beautifully made and feel very special. The leather is excellent throughout, including on both seats, which show almost no wear.
The engine compartment and front compartment are also excellent throughout, being clean and correct. The front compartment retains its blocks to facilitate the storage of the roof sections, as well as the hub wrench and leather retaining straps. The car comes with luggage, white service manual, Carrera GT art book, and full manual pack with manuals.
This is an excellent opportunity to acquire and extremely clean well-maintained Carrera GT at a figure well-below the car’s original $440,000 price. It is very complete, well-optioned, and every bit as stunning as when it was new.
