Description

2008 Porsche 911 GT2
VIN WPOAD29908S796142
White with Black Alcantara and Leather

Regarded by experts and enthusiasts as one of the finest performance Porsches ever constructed, the 997 series GT2 was launched in 2007 at the 62ndFrankfurt Motor Show. At that time, the GT2 was, quite simply, the most powerful 911 homologated for road use. The new GT2 was based on the 3.6 liter engine but featured two variable geometry turbochargers, which generated an incredible 523 hp, due in part to the innovative use of technology leveraging cooler oscillating air in the newly designed expansion intake manifold. An exhaustive litany of mechanical details regarding the technical merits of the engine and transmission include lightweight alloy pistons, nikasil lined aluminum cylinders, VarioCam variable valve management, and eleven-quart capacity dry sump lubrication via nine oil pumps.

The rear wheel drive, manual 6-speed platform offered the perfect balance of performance and drivability all delivered in a stunning final design. Performance became instantly legendary with Motor Trend reporting 0- 60 mph in 3.3 seconds, 11.3 seconds in the quarter mile, and a maximum top speed of 204 mph, making it the third Porsche to exceed the 200 mph mark. With all that power on tap, Porsche engineers elected to use higher performance and lighter weight PCCB composite carbon fiber/ceramic compound disc brakes, which returned remarkable stopping power and reduced unsprung weight due to their light construction. Even with these astonishing performance figures, the GT2 returned an unheard of 22 mpg in city based road tests, a near impossible number for a car in this class of performance.

The newly refined GT2 body design was differentiated from the 997 Turbo with a beautifully distinct body including a special front air dam, uniquely designed rear wing with integrated intake scoops, revised side air intake design, and a specially contoured rear bumper featuring titanium exhaust tips, flanked by air extracting rear fender gills. Extensive aerodynamic research was applied to every aspect of the exterior including highly detailed underbody aero aids, front splitter and rear wing, integrated intakes and warm air extractors, and maximum downforce stabilization, which was carefully applied to front and rear surfaces. Finally, the overall body stance was lowered to improve the center of gravity. Inside the car, remarkable engineering and design continued featuring the highest caliber performance components for a road car. The GT2 sport bucket seats were made from lightweight carbon fiber and covered in leather with Alcantara center sections. Carbon fiber was used throughout the car for both aesthetic and weight saving purposes. In all, the combined performance and superior engineering resulted in a superb road car, constructed to the highest standards. Highly sought after and accordingly priced, a mere 194 997 GT2 models were sold to the US, with an additional 19 units sold into Canada.

This particular example was imported to the US, arriving in San Diego, California, July 21, 2008. The following options are listed on the option sequence listing inside the owner’s manual:

The first owner split his time between Arizona and California, thus the car was first registered in Arizona, but later passed California smog emissions testing November 15, 2008 with 5,060 miles recorded. The first owner performed regular services in California as needed including Porsche recommended interval maintenance at 10,349 with all fluids addressed including a brake fluid flush and oil change May 17, 2012. In 2013 the car was serviced by Porsche Cars North America under a ‘voluntary service action’ retrofit replacing the protective exhaust tubing. In February 2015, someone attempted to steal the hood emblem causing minor cosmetic damage to the hood, which was subsequently professionally repaired. On October 20, 2015 with 13,001 miles recorded, the car was sold to the second owner who owned it briefly before the current owner purchased it in 2017.

In 2015 the car was serviced by S-Car-Go in San Rafael, California. The car received a new lower front valence, Fabspeed cat bypass, and a Protomotive Program ECU. In 2016, the car returned to S-Car-Go for an $8,000.00 engine upgrade including high flow Turbo inlet ducts, Tial Products turbo upgrades, new spark plugs, new intake pipes, an EVO kit, and a new BMC air filter. All this added up to substantial performance improvements, resulting in 600+ hp output. The current owner purchased the car following a resounding pre-purchase inspection by Porsche expert Bill Eason who confirmed the car to be in excellent condition with factory paint, no damage, and only minor cosmetic imperfections. The new owner recently delivered the car to Pacific Motors in San Francisco with 19,509 miles where approximately $5,600.00 in service work was performed on the car including all fluids, a new turbo boost adjusting motor, a new TPMS control unit, a new fuel cap, and ride height adjustment. The car is registered in Montana, however the current owner has retained the catalytic converters, which, should the new owner wish, it will be installed at the present owner’s expense.

Today this Porsche presents beautifully with excellent factory white paint that is glossy throughout, showing only mild evidence of use, reflective of the 20,200 miles it has covered since new. The clear protective hood film applied to the front of the car has minor imperfections and the front air dam has some scuffs, but overall none of these items detract from the impressive visual presence of this GT2. The body is in excellent condition showing very nice fitting factory doors, trunk, and hood with excellent panel gaps, tight factory fit along the front and rear bumpers, nicely finished trim, excellent lenses, and original factory glass. The unique GT2 black spoke optional wheels are in very fine condition with no curb rash, but the left rear tire has significant curb marks and will need replacing. Beautifully finished in contrasting black and silver, the 19” wheels reveal the enormous ceramic composite disc brakes, dramatically accented by the yellow brake calipers housing six (front) and four (rear) piston systems. The visual presence of this car is confident, powerful, and beautifully composed, particularly in white, which highlights the iconic tinted glass lines, accentuating the dramatic profile and legendary 911 roofline.

The original interior shows just minor wear on the driver’s seat left bolster, excellent leather finishes on the seats, beautifully preserved door panels, and very nice carpeting. The leather seating surfaces and Alcantara inserts are supple and nicely maintained, supported by yellow seatbelts, which cleverly match the brake calipers. The dashboard, topped by the optional sport chrono package instrument pod, beautiful factory gauges, and carbon fiber optioned center console are all in near new condition. The Alcantara wrapped steering wheel, handbrake, and gearshift handle (also carbon fiber trimmed) all remain in nice condition adding both driving grip and a touch of material elegance. The carbon fiber doorsills and seatbacks are in excellent condition, as is the optional leather headliner and leather sun visors. The switches, controls, and remaining interior panels are all in excellent condition including the Navigation DVD package. The overall fit and finish of the interior is fresh and nicely composed, exhibiting all the traits of a properly maintained and professionally detailed car.

The engine compartment and trunk retain a stock exterior appearance, beguiling the 600+ horsepower output, which has been achieved by professionally trained technicians well versed in Porsche performance enhancements. The engine compartment is clean and properly detailed, with all of the cosmetic features under the hood remaining fresh and properly maintained with very nice finishes and correct hardware. The climate controlled trunk compartment remains stock from the factory, displaying correct materials and finishes including the unused collapsible spare tire, proper accessories, correct factory parts, and correct factory assembly features, further validating the originality and unmolested structure.

The car starts instantly delivering a wonderful rich exhaust note from the titanium rear end silencers and tailpipes. Settling into a warm idle, the timeless manual six-speed gearbox immediately reveals very short and precise shift travel via steel synchro rings allowing for fast shifts in perfect harmony with every gear. The supreme performance capability in these cars coupled with exceptional brakes, remarkably efficient aerodynamics, and added performance enhancements make this GT2 among the most powerful of all legal road Porsches ever built for street use. The PSM (Porsche Stability Management) system offers superb control, added safety, and amazing driving dynamics including three manual pre-sets to modulate system activation depending on driver skill. In any of the pre-set modes, the chassis is, tight and intuitively responsive even to inexperienced drivers. Power and performance aside, the car can be mildly summoned at cruising speeds, while still being quiet and docile enough for moderate daily driving. Underneath the car is a further showcase of integrated air ducts, openings, and air management systems aiding in brake cooling and cornering control. The chassis and supporting factory underbody aerodynamic features show no evidence of structural compromise. The car comes with factory keys, all factory books, owner’s manual, factory compressor, first aid kit, tools, Ctek battery charger, and tire repair kit.

This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a low mileage, well maintained and professionally upgraded performance example of one of the most desirable Porsches ever built. This Porsche 911 GT2 is ready for unforgettable performance driving, rewarding showcase events, or simply admiring as the marvel of technical engineering, design, and advanced motorsports aerodynamics so thoughtfully applied to one of the most remarkably capable sports cars ever assembled for street use.
