The iconic Porsche 911 continues to reign as one of the most enduring and competent sports cars ever made. Available in a wide range of configurations over more than five decades of development, Porsche has continually improved on their wonderfully usable performance car, incorporating lessons from decades of racing into the many variants of the 911 – each one uniquely suited to a range of owner preferences and driving styles.

In 2012, the seventh generation 911 arrived, and remains in production today. The new 911 (designated the 991 internally) was offered in several performance variations including the Carrera Cabriolet, powered by a 3.4 liter 350 hp horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine. This new design was longer, lower, and wider than the 997 it replaced but retained the iconic rear-engined architecture that defines the 911. Performance for the Carrera Cabriolet was impressive, delivering 0-60 times in 4.4 seconds with the dual clutch or PDK transmission. The automatic top also offered speed and performance, transforming the cabriolet from a closed car to an open convertible in a mere 13.0 seconds. This one-owner, carefully maintained example was delivered new to Porsche of Monterey in Seaside, CA where it has remained since new. According to the window sticker, the car was delivered with $13,500 worth of options to bring the total sticker price to $109,650 before taxes in fees. Options fitted to this car include Dark Blue Paint ($710), Porsche Doppelkupplung PDK ($4,080), 20” Carrera S Wheels ($1,560), Power Steering Plus ($270), SportDesign Steering Wheel ($490), 14-way Power Sport Seats with Memory Package ($2,320), Premium Package ($620), Bose Audio Package ($2,120), and Porsche Crest on Headrests.

The car’s sole owner was an R-Gruppe member who used the car only occasionally, adding just over 14,000 miles to it from new. The car was regularly serviced at this dealership for both general maintenance and Porsche Manufacturer’s Recommended Volunteer Service actions in order to update the car to proper and recommended factory standards. In April 2015, a 5,000 mile service was performed, which included all fluids and inspection, and in May 2016, the 10,000 mile service also included all fluids and an inspection. In February 2018, the oil and filter were changed and a new battery was installed.

Today, the car presents beautifully in Dark Blue Metallic with contrasting Luxor Beige interior. The paint is essentially in as new condition with beautiful gloss and deep luster showing only minor evidence of use, to be expected given 14,035 miles since delivery. The stunning 20” Carrera wheels are in excellent condition with no curb rash, vibrant silver finish, and Pirelli tires with good tread. Lighting, glass, and emblems are all in near new condition throughout including the clean script lettering and Porsche branded details all of which show essentially no marks or scuffs.

The interior is in excellent condition with a near new feel to all seating surfaces, showing no marks and virtually no wear to the premium materials used throughout the interior. The center console housing the 7-speed PDK gear selector and other controls is handsomely arrayed with switches. The dashboard and assorted instrumentation properly illuminate, displaying key operational features and systems operation status for key mechanical features. The condition of the carpeting, door panels, and other interior surfaces is excellent throughout with only minor use showing on the driver’s side foot area. The top is in exceptionally nice condition raising and lowering at the touch of a button. When fixed in the closed position, the materials are taut and clean both on the exterior and inside where the headliner and roof bolsters appear fresh and clean. Thoughtfully chosen options include the crested headrests and SportDesign steering wheel, both of which serve to distinguish this Carrera Cabriolet.

The engine compartment and front storage compartment are both in basically new condition, with no signs of abuse or significant aging. The luggage compartment is usefully shaped and surprisingly capacious. The underside of the car, suspension and driveline casings are nicely maintained, clean, and free from any significant scuff marks or notable damage, further supporting the low miles.

The car functions properly and is an absolute pleasure to drive. The PDK transmission is everything you would expect from Porsche, offering excellent shifting, both when pressed as a performance car or mildly cruising in daily traffic. A sophisticated dual clutch unit that is widely regarded to be the best automated transmission on the market, it has a level of responsiveness and speed that was never present in the Tiptronic, which is simply a conventional automatic with shift buttons. Indeed, with the introduction of the PDK, the two-pedal 911 was finally faster than the conventional manual. Road manners are exceptional to exhilarating, without compromising safety or comfort, delivering a confident ride and excellent feedback at the wheel when desired, and effortless cruising the remainder of the time. The XM radio provides ample entertainment for long drives, while the premium sound system delivers excellent fidelity even when cruising with the top down. Included with the car are all ownership documents, original window sticker, sales brochure, service paperwork, and owner’s manuals.
