History of the Porsche GT3 RS

Refined from decades of motorsports excellence, the Porsche 911 has attracted legions of performance enthusiasts combining ground-breaking technology and superlative design. After seven decades of evolution, the graceful 911 heritage architecture and legacy body design continues to capture the spirit and sport of these iconic cars. In 1999, the GT3 arrived to meet the growing demand for performance models evoking Porsche motorsports excellence. As part of the 996 model range, the GT3 option package focused on racing delivering impressive performance figures and purposefully spartan interior trim.

As models gradually evolved, by 2015 the GT3 was offered with the distinctive RS (RennSport) package. Equipped with carbon fiber louvered front fenders and turbo intake vents on the (also) carbon fiber rear fenders. Continuing the theme of lighter construction, aluminum doors, carbon fiber engine lid, and magnesium roof further enhanced this package. Carbon fiber bucket seats and a myriad of further weight savings (no air-conditioning, no stereo, and no front axle lift system) reduce the total vehicle weight to 3,155 lbs.

In 2018 Porsche unveiled the updated 991.2 GT3 RS which included a fascia redesign and other exterior changes. The new 4.0 liter engine increased output to 520hp mated to the Porsche Doppelkupplung PDK 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The resulting performance is still legendary today with 0-60 times of 2.9 seconds and quarter mile launches lapsing in 11.1 seconds. Stopping prowess was equally amazing with 70mph braking to zero covered in an eye-popping 128 ft. attributed to the carbon rotors as featured on this car. Aiding the braking, NACA ducts were added for brake cooling, and side skirts added along with a rear wing formerly mounted on the GT2 RS. Additionally, lighter weight glass was offered for the side and rear windows while improvements were also made to suspension components. As proof of superlative performance, in 2018, the GT3 RS shattered the 7-minute lap time at Nurburgring Nordschleife, an achievement only a handful of production cars have been able to claim.

History of this Weissach GT3 RS

According to sources documenting NA 991.2 GT3 RS production (MY2019) this GT3 RS is one of 1,462 built in 2019 and one of 103 finished from the factory in Miami Blue. Boasting an impressive array of performance features already prepared in the RS package, this very special GT3 RS was further outfitted with extensive options totaling over $47,000, including the highly desirable Weissach Package, itself an $18,000 package. The Weissach option includes carbon fiber rear wing, exposed carbon fiber hood and roof panels, factory alloy wheels, and carbon fiber rear anti-roll bar. The interior features Weissach headrest embroidery, a glove box plaque, and carbon fiber paddle shifters.

Originally delivered to Stevens Creek Porsche, Santa Clara, CA this car has remained under singular ownership since purchase. Shortly after purchase, February 2019, experts at TC Design, Campbell, CA fabricated and installed a custom 991 roll bar which is cleverly mounted to factory receiving surfaces and locations. TC Designs also installed Schroth Racing six-point harness and ASM. Importantly, the factory seatbelts and receiver receptacles remain in place and usable for regular driving. TC also installed a driver’s side sub belt mounting bar, set up the driver’s side harness and installed a 991 lip spoiler. The owner participated in a few non-competition-based track days with the car, primarily as a prudent and safe way to experience the performance capabilities of this outstanding GT3 RS.

Conditions and Features of this Porsche

Today this Porsche GT3 RS presents in stunning condition with smooth original factory applied Miami Blue paint and lightweight glossy carbon fiber body features. All factory GT3 details are essentially new with no flaws or notable marks to the exceptional paint. The factory body panels are in excellent condition showing tight fit to the aluminum doors, carbon fiber hood, carbon fiber front fenders, and carbon fiber engine lid. The carbon fiber roof, a Weissach Package weight savings over the magnesium production piece, is in excellent condition, while the exposed carbon fiber hood has a few very minor stone chips evident upon close examination. The front and rear bumper caps offer crisp factory fit and excellent contours. The boldly elevated carbon fiber rear wing is yet another stunning visual feature of this car. The dramatic rocker panel flares are in excellent condition showing very light evidence of road use at the forward rear sections typically heavily marked on more aggressively driven examples.

Beautifully finished satin black center hub Weissach magnesium wheels are in excellent condition with bright yellow six and four piston brake calipers atop the optional ceramic disc brakes. The wheels are shod with Dunlop Sport Maxx Race 2 performance tires dated 2021, showing only nominal tread wear. The gracefully flared front and rear fenders and carbon fiber intake vents channel air to aid in cooling and downforce stability while the massive carbon fiber rear wing offers added rear end stability and a touch of subtle elegance with black Porsche lettering overlapping the carbon fiber finishes. The carbon fiber Weissach roof and hood of this highly optioned RennSport Porsche GT3 further convey the uniqueness of this example.

The original black interior is essentially new throughout with excellent leather and Alcantara finishes, beautifully preserved door panels, and near new carpeting. The carbon fiber seats are covered with leather seating surfaces and accented with silver stitching which also matches the dash, and doors. Weissach RS headrest embroidery and traditional 911 houndstooth inserts combine to create a fitting tribute to the heritage of this car (the original Alcantara inserts accompany the car). The motorsports motif is further enhanced by the TC Designs Schroth 6-point harness and TC Designs rollbar specially constructed for this application. The dashboard features white instrument faces, carbon fiber inserts, matching white Sport Chrono dial, and unique Weissach option details. The Alcantara steering wheel, instrument cluster, and all control surfaces remain in like-new condition. Every aspect of the interior is fresh, crisp, and beautifully maintained, exhibiting all the traits of a documented low mile car that has been properly cared for under singular ownership since delivered new.

The engine compartment and trunk retain a stock exterior appearance, though much of the engine itself is concealed in the beautifully draped body panels and engine shrouding beneath the rear wing.
